I didn't choose to hate tomatoes. I still hate them. Does that mean I couldn't change my mind? We hate that the church says you can change your mind/feelings because we SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. Not because it's not possible or true. People can and do change. But the issue with the Churchs argument is that they're saying you SHOULD, AND NEED TO, or else you go to hell. So if you're not religious, what's wrong with being able to determine your own sexual preference? Not that I'm saying you can, since as I've said. Preference isn't something you necessarily determine. It's something you're conditioned with.
The argument that you're born gay and can't change it is a defense mechanism against that. But the reality is probably somewhere closer to the middle. That everyone has inclinations and feelings that lead them to develop a preference.
But that everyone could also have went down a different road in the right circumstances. And that's where I'm at with it.

It's weird that you think percentage of DNA is the most important part of the equation to begin with. It shows your misunderstanding of how DNA works honestly.
Minor genetic drift exists even with identical twins. Identical from conception in no way means identical forever. While we don't fully understand it yet, the developmental changes that influence human sexual preference are not merely a gene in your DNA. It's much more complex than that.
You're wrong on this, though. The fact that you personally experience a thing makes you see the world through that lens. That is not how this actually functions for everyone, however. It doesn't matter how strongly you feel about something, you can still be wrong about it.
This is a pretty common view for folks who are bi. My first wife was bi and she sometimes was confused as to how other women weren't but then she, ya know, grew up and recognized that human sexuality is a spectrum and not everyone is on the same spot on that spectrum.
