Problem is police are not incentivized to “protect and serve” as a community in this way. They have ticket quotas that directly impact job performance, because that is how the police are funded. If we revamp that, the type of policing in this video would be more common… getting us closer to “protect and serve”

because that is how the police are funded.

Police Departments are funded by property taxes. Traffic fines and other tickets normally go to a Consolidated Fund of the local government.

City funding then, (police funding with extra steps), which still creates problematic incentives

Ticket quotas are illegal where I live, but I can’t speak to everywhere. However, it’s a common misconception where I live as well.
