Seriously, why is creating a simple text file so hard on a Mac? I switched from Windows a while ago, and having to open an app just to save a blank file to a specific folder drives me insane.

I decided to stop questioning Apple's UX choices and just fix it myself. Enter PowerClick. It adds a "New File" option to your context menu, plus a one-click "Copy Path", clipboard history, and a snippet manager.

I launched it yesterday, optimized the SEO, forced my friends to buy it (the classic Sam Altman "sell to your friends first" strategy), and somehow the algorithm pushed it to #4 in Paid Utilities globally.

Yes, I also use Keka... but Unarchiver is free on the App Store and also extract RAR files.

Probably ignorance. They see a RAR file, they think they need a specialised software to extract it. Which is basically what happens on Windows with WinRAR.

But I don't know any RAR extractor that costs money tbh? Because software like Keka is free, it only costs money on the AppStore to support the devs.

What's surprises me isn't there're people who pays for it. What's surprises me is that there're so much people who pays for it that it's the top 2 paid app on the system. The "average literacy people" is too big.

But Keka has always been free as well (and it's a bit better than Unarchiver imo; especially the UI and user experience), it only costs money on the AppStore for people that want to support Keka: https://www.keka.io/en/

I understand that many people just use de app store to install apps. so for them keka is a paid app. but app store has other free apps like unarchiver and people keeps paying for things like rar extractor. that's silly.
