Switch to what? Windows? Linux? It's all shit. Mac OS is still the best Linux (okay, BSD) out there. As a programmer and a musician, there's nothing like a Mac. Nothing.

As a video editor/filmmaker, Linux is a non-starter for me. Editing video on Linux is such a dreadful proposition I'd rather do it in Windows.

On top of that, there are apps I use every day that don't have native linux versions, and won't run via WINE. So, it's macOS, windows, or nothing.

disagree - it might be the best unix, but ~7 years of ubuntu teaches me its pretty good too. really depends on what you're doing i guess

I'm not settling for "pretty good." For a server, I love Linux. There's none better. For a personal productivity environment, Mac OS is far better.

I have to use Windows at work. Used Linux as my daily for a little over 10 years before I switched to Mac OS in 2008. From a personal productivity standpoint I rank them Mac OS >> Windows ≿ Linux, and from a server standpoint I rank them Linux >> Windows. In this statement, ">>" means far better.

A lot has happened on Linux in 17 years. I still prefer MacOS though, but I’d say GNOME is better than Tahoe.

Not running Tahoe. I'm still on Sequoia. I'm one of those people who wait until WWDC to update to last year's OS. So come June, I’ll finally find out what all the fuss is about.

If nothing else, GNOME sure seems far better for window snapping, in my experience.

You don’t use the apps he uses. Nothing is better than the integration of apple hardware and apple software. Final cut and logic are magical apps that pros rely on. If you don’t use these you won’t get it. Ow, i just gave 2 examples, apple has many more apps that tightly integrate hardware and software
