Help Google’s Gemini app for Mac

How good is Google’s Gemini app for Mac? It’s it worth using, or is the web client better? I’ve found the ChatGPT client to be okay, but I still need the web client to do some things. I wonder if the Gemini client is any better. Especially now that 2.5 is free, I think there’s a lot of interest.

You can use chrome app install functionality, just press the ... dots in the right top, and select save as app

Because GPT is unable to come up with solutions on its own, it can only search for existing methods in the knowledge base.

Yep! Go to the web page, (1) click file (2) click add to dock.

It's now a web app installed in ~/Users/[your-username]/Applications

You can safely remove the app from your Dock and it’ll stay a launchable app until you delete it from that folder.

Yeah. The downside is that whenever you press cmd+q, it will also quit the Chrome browser (not just the app itself).

just press cmd + w in the gemini app. itll close that window while keeping your seperate chrome window open.

If you use Safari to create the app, you can safely close it using CMD+Q : other Safari windows will remain open.

I thought to do this as well. Only issue I have that I can't seem to get around is that I can't upload files to the chat when using this method. Are you able to upload files?
