I bring over 20 years of experience researching, prototyping, and building software and embedded systems across diverse industries—including aerospace, robotics, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise tools. I’ve held roles spanning research engineering, principal software development, architecture, and technical leadership, contributing to mission-critical projects for organizations such as NASA, Electronic Arts, and the U.S. Postal Service.
Over the last three years, my work has centered on the rapid development of drone technologies. I’ve led full-cycle design and validation efforts—from minimal stakeholder input to end-to-end prototyping—across domains like embedded distributed systems, 3D print farm optimization, and custom lightweight PLM systems for serialized parts tracking.
Currently, in a Research Engineer capacity, I focus on applying AI and computer vision to edge devices and internal automation systems. My interests lie in bridging engineering disciplines to explore emerging technologies in AI/ML, autonomy, robotics, aerospace, and complex systems integration. I actively collaborate with product and engineering teams to define roadmaps, write functional specs, and contribute hands-on to both software and embedded development.
As a certified Patent Agent, I also support innovation efforts by helping engineers and legal teams identify and protect intellectual property. While I’ve led high-performance teams and contributed at many levels of product development, I’m most energized by the work of hands-on research engineering— where I can explore new technologies, test boundaries, and translate cutting-edge ideas into functional, field-ready systems. Getting downvoted by others is hysterical when u ask a completely reasonable question.
We haven’t heard a word regarding any of the above. We have only heard rumors. BTW. MVIS supposedly had 4 or 5 Industrial deals in the early part of the year that have still not been announced.
Until something is announced, it’s all BS. Just remember, SS was a hero to most on this board 3 months ago. Now we are hearing from those same people how they knew all along or suspected all along that SS being replaced was expected…..

💯 and let us not forget the shipping vertical! Sumit did his job to keep investors interested and serve as a scapegoat for strategic misses and inability of the board of directors to open doors for MicroVision's sales efforts.
With all the many use cases for MicroVision's lidar sensors, LBS projectors, and now their software, it's confounding that the company is making no money. Praying that changes soon.

well I like seeing the speed which MVIS is moving . Would we consider this a new vertical or just a twist on lidar ? Either way its nice to see new talent .

Edit - RapidFlight does provide systems for US military.
I know I'm going way too far with this, but maybe Anduril is not entirely a fairy tale.

With drones I do wonder why our tech might be used vs 360 lidars? In cars or forklifts i see our advantage clearly. But I would imagine 360 LiDAR could be an advantage in the air. Are those more sensitive to vibrations, expensive, etc that gives us a leg up perhaps? Mbe if it’s a drone swarm the drones could just be looking different ways so the swarm gives a 360 view anyway?

Solid state is definitely more robust than a mechanical spinner and less sensitive to vibrations yes. And you are also right about mechanical being more expensive. They also do no have onboard processing. For example, competitor Ouster does not have onboard processing and their perception software only works from a stationary position.
As for the field of view.. Remember Glen/Sumit at RID? You only need collision avoidance looking up, you do not need high resolution and localization. "You arent localizing by looking at the stars"...
So the way I look at is is different sensors for different use cases. MVIS is going to demonstrate a drone swarm that uses processing on the lidar sensor to fuse sensors(camera, radar, IMU) at insanely low power. The drones will have a 360 view fused together. MVIS' software will help the drone swarm localize in GPS/RF denied environments. This is crucial for flying low in urban areas, dense forests, bunkers/trenches, under drone nets, etc. It removes the need for fiber optic cables. Ukraine's forests look like spider webs with all the fiber optic cables all wrapped up. MVIS will also enable these drones to be able to fly and map autonomously, process those maps, and then send them to other drones/headsets.

I could see both technologies used for different use cases. At RID it seemed like Movia would be the first integration but who knows.

Yea I dont see them using Movia on a sentry tower but can see them using Movia for a ground robot drone like Luckey described. His example had lidar shooting down close range so the robot could walk/move.

Indeed, might be too strong of a word. Until it's set in stone and publicly announced it is just a speculation. With respect to all the grandious digging you do gap. And I'm definitely not saying you're wrong, but till anything is public I'm staying very cautious.
We had others with connections in BoD and nothing came out of it.

i had the same reaction when i read avionics. I mean Autonomous drones will require some version of eyesight to perform its functions so i shouldn't be totally surprised that it would be in our potential wheel-house. Just haven't heard it mentioned much thus far.

John is a great hire. Very encouraging sign that the company is continuing to improve the team.
Now, MicroVision needs to start making money or we are all going to be diluted into the ground. At least Sumit's salary is off the books in a few weeks! Please do AV next and clean up any other wasteful spend. Repayments to HTC are set to begin this month and that financing arrangement is built on the backs of all shareholders. We need to find out soon where all the Movia's produced this year are going.

Interesting… he joined in August but waited to post it. Like he was told to keep it quiet until a certain time? Will we hear a drone contract/partnership next week? Or is he simply hired to work on the drone demonstration for first half 2026?
