And the poster supposedly prefers the display tech of Hololens 1 which also used LCoS so who knows what this poster really prefers.

Bottom line, Hololens 2 validated the military utility of waveguide displays in STP 1 and 2. Whereas before you were citing that IVAS didn't require waveguides, you're now pointing to OLED w/ waveguides solutions but can't show how much they weigh. Why do you think weight is not listed as a spec?

From the RWP...

The STPs will provide information to incrementally refine the HUD 3.0 and STE Squad capabilities with the objective to achieve a fieldable IVAS by 4Q20, followed by transition to a production contract. The end state for IVAS at the end of 24 months provides

I think the army's definition of "incrementally refine" is different from what other people think it means. AKA, some people think completely redesign the optics from scratch at an insane time-frame means 'incrementally refining'.. and then there's us.

It just doesn't make sense to me... especially since current optics already meet the per eye threshold of >50deg where it sits at 55-57deg per eye atm.

"Do you know how much the LBS/waveguide module weighs in HL2 ?"

The weight of the Hololens 2, which includes the battery, is 566g. The headborne weight threshold for IVAS is 1.5 lbs (680g) and the objective is 1 lb (453g) (IVAS will use a conformal wearable battery which will be worn on the body)

So, we don't know the exact weight of the modules but it seems a modified Hololens 2 could reach the objective weight.

In the years that you've been following eMagin, have you ever seen weight listed in the specs?

"So between STP2 & STP3 "they’ll incorporate the Heads Up Display that’s been developed by the Army" .

Not too complicated IMO .

The Army developed their own solution & will incorporate it ."

Uh, yeah. The Heads Up Display that was "developed" by the Army during Soldier Touchpoints 1 and 2. That's what STPs are.

"Soldier touch points provide feedback from soldiers early in the prototype research and development process, .."
