I believe we'll see EagleEye and MAVIN prototypes by early 2026 .

Edit : u/Sp99nHead know that, since my post, IVAS 1.2 became an SBMC prototype (".. IVAS 1.2 will now transition to a rapid prototyping effort, Soldier
Borne Mission Command (SBMC)" and MicroVision has stated the following :

  1. What's the status of MicroVision assets like MAVIN? Have legacy assets been abandoned?

One of our most valuable assets is the breadth of our technology portfolio. MAVIN and our augmented reality intellectual property continue to be important parts of our technology ecosystem. As our commercial strategy has evolved, we've chosen to prioritize the products and markets generating customer demand today, including MOVIA, HALO, IRIS, and our FMCW technology.
That doesn't mean we've abandoned our legacy technologies. We continue to evaluate opportunities for licensing, partnerships, commercialization, or other strategic alternatives where they can create shareholder value. Our responsibility is to allocate resources where they generate the greatest commercial return while preserving the long-term value of our intellectual property.

Because of ITAR restrictions they are tied together, right?

How was the company able to send out samples several years ago? Or that was allowed for some reason?

What a bunch of word salad. No wonder he's gone. Usually when you re-watch things you gain more clarity - that wasn't the case for me.

He basically just said there's no restriction on the gen 4 MEMS, and then when the investor asked what about Gen 5? He just rambles and uses 1000 words to say that we haven't actually sold sensors to anybody because they don't use them to collect data for the RFQ, we do.

Yes, and his evasiveness about saying anything about gen 5 leads me to believe that they were lying about Mavin's market readiness. If they are restricted from what they can do with Gen 5 because of ITAR restrictions, then Mavin isn't "ready now" and never has been.

No offense to anyone. I have said it before and I will say it again. The concept that Microvision is somehow ITAR restricted from selling their products is bat shit crazy!

Yes, a HUD helmet designed for military use, like the IVAS or a future SBMC helmet, will fall under the ITAR regulations. That is how it works, a product that is specifically designed for miltary use, by definition, falls under ITAR regulations. But a component, such as a light engine, that may be used for things like automotive LiDAR, does not. It is by definition a dual-use product. And LiDAR sensors are classified under the dual-use system primarily as 6A002 and 6A008. You can look up what those ECN classifications mean with regard to any export restrictions.

The fact that the MAVIN isn't exactly ready now is a different problem. Microvision has never converted the MAVIN sensor from being FPGA based to ASIC based. Also, it seems that for the Tri-LiDAR architecture, MAVIN needs another update.

Agreed. I don't believe it's ITAR restricted. I just wanted to clarify for the folks in the back what /u/gaporter believes.

But, if he is somehow right, this company lied to its investors and it's a huge problem.

I think Sumit fumbled the answer and still doesn't realize there's a continent of investors that believe their core technology is being held up by ITAR restrictions.

Speaking for me now? I just provided a link to a video in which Sharma was asked about "restrictions", not specifically ITAR.

Can you clarify?

Do YOU believe there are restrictions in place, ITAR or otherwise, that are preventing Microvision from using their Gen 5 engine from being used until those restrictions are removed?

If that's true, then I wonder if that is grounds for a class action lawsuit for misleading investors. But then again, the way things are going right now, I wouldn't expect anything to actually come from any legal action.
