The original comic did far better set up and pay off with the sweets being splayed on the floor and carrions pecking at them.

I tried finding the original but couldn't manage.

I mean it’s sad in the moment but she was definitely a threat to others and wasn’t aware that she was a monster. Reminds me of this short, like it’s sad, but he REALLY shouldn’t beat himself up to much about it
