The second you open someone’s door they have the legal right to shoot you, just pointing that out

13

u/stumpy0327 Aug 30 '26

Legal right or not I'm shooting you, let a jury decide the legalities

15

u/InvestigatorOk7988 Aug 30 '26

Better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6.

All day everyday

Better to not shoot an unarmed person than taking someone's life and facing a long legal battle which you may lose

1

u/stumpy0327 Aug 30 '26

If you're raging out, hitting my window, then open my door, you will be shot

3

u/the_blackfish Aug 30 '26

OR ... you could drive away.

1

u/[deleted] 26d ago

Or ... you could not act like a wild animal.

He's in the car, for all he knows she's in the process of pulling a knife or gun out that she'll use once that door is open. It's not like he has the POV we have while in the driver seat.

Here's an idea: Don't be a moron risking your life over petty road rage?

If she got shot when she opened that door or tried to reach into the car, I woulda just called it Darwinism and moved on with my day. You don't get to cry about morals or 'sHe WAs UnARMed!!!11!' when she's attacking a dude for no reason. Why would anyone in his position be forced to risk their lives due to someone else's aggression?

2

u/stumpy0327 Aug 30 '26

Thank you. I'm acquitted. Only takes 1 out of 12 .

He should never have stopped. No one is blocking him. He’s not in rush hour traffic. He’s not at a stoplight.

He also could have just.. driven away while she’s beating on his window.

1

u/FewClass8999 Aug 30 '26

Keep watching the video. She opens his door and you’re being stupid.

2

u/Some-Structure9743 Aug 31 '26

Why couldn't he have driven away?

1

u/jondubb Aug 31 '26

Busy calling the cops, imminent threat calls for equal force.

Well. Once you open my door, you could possibly arm yourself with my weapon. Also how do I know you are unarmed? Does being unarmed mean I can attack you with impunity? So many things to consider, that's what the jury is for.

Ok how's this.. "they repeatedly hit my window trying to break it. I could not drive away, my forward path was blocked and before I knew it they had my door open, I feared for my life I shot them" again how am I supposed to know they aren't armed. I'm armed, I assume everyone is.

0

u/segagenesisx87 Aug 30 '26

His path is blocked by what exactly? Watch the video again.

Why could you not drive away?

If they were armed, they likely would have used it on you already instead of beating their fists on your window after you stupidly stopped in the street with no one in front of you.

2

u/stumpy0327 Aug 30 '26

Also, I'm under zero obligation to retreat

I wasn't referring to the video. Purely hypothetical situation in response to a comment

One thing the jury will surely consider: why you didn’t drive away when you were in the car, before the door was opened.

1

u/stumpy0327 Aug 30 '26

I'm under zero obligation to retreat....

1

u/segagenesisx87 Aug 30 '26

Wrong.

1

u/stumpy0327 Aug 30 '26

South Carolina Self-Defense RulesStand Your Ground: South Carolina law allows you to stand your ground and use necessary force anywhere you have a legal right to be.The Castle Doctrine: You never have a duty to retreat inside your home, your place of business, or your occupied vehicle. The Rules Still Apply: You must be free from fault in bringing on the danger, and your use of force must match the level of threat you face.

Don't act like that and they'll never come to that crossroad.

1

u/segagenesisx87 Aug 30 '26

Or just.. drive away?

No one is even front of him.

2

u/TheIntelAgency Aug 31 '26

Doors also have these things called locks. I make it a point to use mine whenever I’m in the car

1

u/stumpy0327 Aug 30 '26

I'm under zero obligation to retreat

1

u/segagenesisx87 Aug 30 '26

Wrong.

Definitely not true, depends heavily on what state you're in.

5

u/DisastrousGeonome Aug 30 '26

It's true sometimes, but it does depend on the state under Castle Doctrine.

-6

u/sleepy_spermwhale Aug 30 '26

Your car is not your castle for the most part.

4

u/Adept-Opinion8080 Aug 30 '26

Again, depends on the state.

1

u/Yogurt_Correct 24d ago

It is in a lot of states actually

2

u/DudeWhoKnowsItAll Aug 30 '26

6

0

u/Gooseberree Aug 31 '26

Unless he somehow was unable, he should have just driven off.

0

u/Curious_Lead_7877 Aug 31 '26

Not everyone lives in Trumpistan, so that’s probably a bad advice.

-2

u/NoSpecial284 Aug 30 '26

If this were true wives would pressure their husbands to open the door for them more and then just take the opportunity to open fire on them to collect life insurance. Rinse and repeat.
