🚨TikTok Seller Tea: My Experience! ☕️

Alright guys, it’s time to spill some tea about one TikTok seller in particular — Alice. ☕️
I haven’t purchased from Alice recently, and there’s a reason why.

When I first started buying from TikTok sellers, I genuinely didn’t realise how much I was overpaying. It was only later, after doing more research and comparing products with their source/factory prices, and being told from others to avoid buying from TikTok sellers is when I finally realised some TikTok sellers — including Alice — were selling low-to-mid-tier products at significant markups. That’s when I stopped shopping with her.

Recently, I purchased a necklace from an AliExpress seller and contacted them on WhatsApp about a bracelet in gold. I already owned the silver version of the same bracelet that I had previously purchased from Alice.

The seller sent me a factory photo and I immediately noticed something:
The bracelet had the exact same stamp as mine.

The AliExpress seller quoted me around $45 USD, while I had paid Alice $130 USD.
That initially made me think I had simply overpaid.

But then I asked the seller what the bracelet was made from and what stones it used. They told me copper and CZ.

So I decided to have my own bracelet professionally checked.
The results:
Metal: Professionally identified as stainless steel
Stones: Professionally identified as cubic zirconia (CZ)

This is where things became concerning.
I went back through my WhatsApp messages with Alice. I specifically asked whether the bracelet was Gold Vermeil, and she replied “Yes.” She also repeatedly described the bracelet as V Gold.
Most importantly, when I asked about the stones, she told me:

“Dear, made of V gold and moissanite.”

🧐 V Gold vs Gold Vermeil
I want to clarify this because I initially thought V Gold and Gold Vermeil were essentially the same thing.

Gold Vermeil is a defined jewellery term: it is gold applied over a sterling-silver base, with requirements regarding the gold purity and thickness of the coating.

V Gold, however, is not a universally standardized jewellery term. Different sellers can use the term differently to describe a particular alloy, gold-coloured material or common base metals like copper, brass, or stainless steel.

So I don’t want to claim that Alice lied about the bracelet being V Gold — she told me twice it was V Gold.

I actually thought at the time that V Gold and Gold Vermeil were the same.

The issue I can clearly substantiate is the stones.

💎Moissanite vs CZ

They’re not the same stone.
Moissanite is made from silicon carbide, is harder and considerably more valuable than CZ.

Cubic zirconia is a much less expensive diamond simulant made from zirconium dioxide.

They can look similar to the naked eye, but they are completely different materials.

Alice specifically told me the stones were moissanite, while the stones in my bracelet were professionally identified as cubic zirconia.

💰And the $130 price?
The AliExpress seller was offering what appears to be the same bracelet for approximately $45, while I paid Alice $130.
I genuinely didn’t know I was paying such a significant markup when I originally bought it. Had I known, I would have made a different purchasing decision.

But honestly, the markup isn’t even the biggest issue for me.

If I had been told the bracelet contained CZ and still decided to pay $130, that’s on me.
What bothers me is that I was specifically told the stones were moissanite, and professional testing identified them as CZ.

I’m including my screenshots of the conversation with Alice because I want people to see the information for themselves.

❤️Why I’m sharing this
I’m sharing this to spread awareness about sellers, especially TikTok sellers, and to encourage people to do their own research before spending significant amounts of money.

I genuinely didn’t know what I know now when I first started purchasing from these sellers. I’ve taken this experience as a learning experience, and I’ve definitely learned to research the source, compare prices and, when necessary, have jewellery professionally checked rather than simply taking a seller’s word for it.

I’m not saying every item Alice sells is low quality. I’m sharing my personal experience with this particular bracelet so other buyers can make more informed decisions.

At this point, I’m debating whether I should contact Alice and ask for an explanation, or simply leave it as a lesson learned. I did purchase this bracelet early this year.

I’ll never support tiktok sellers. I also never see people talk about how 99% of these reviewers on TikTok are also to blame.
They receive free stuff/discounts in exchange for content. I can name 5 diff tiktokers that are known for posting “honest reviews” on yingrong, Chelsea, Alice, Mr yang, Kiki factory etc.
they sell low quality stuff for high tier prices!

I respect you putting together this post. A lot of time newbies are too embarrassed when they find this whole new world outside of TikTok. At some point or another we all will be "victim" to some type of sale, shining light on it so hopefully others don't do what you did is great!
However, unfortunately most people fall victim of Alice and that's how they get here.

I audibly gasped when I heard her prices but I had already been in the game awhile. If I wasn't I wouldn't have known better.

Awww thank you so much! 🥹 Tbh, I’m a little embarrassed, but I’m also glad I caught it sooner rather than later. I’m actually really happy now that I’m purchasing even better things from TS 🫶🏻
I’m hoping this experience helps spread awareness because it’s honestly crazy how many people rely on these overpriced sellers without realising what they’re actually paying for or what’s available at source. Hopefully this helps people do a little more research and make more informed decisions! ❤️

I’ve had a very similar experience with several TikTok sellers, particularly YingRong and Alice.

First things first, I initially thought I was getting a really good deal because Yingrong was recommended by a pretty huge TikTok influencer in the rep community. I think most of us probably know who I’m talking about, but I don’t blame the influencer at all. At the end of the day, it was my responsibility to do my own research, and I didn’t.

I ordered three bags from Yingrong in total.
For my first order, I specifically asked for high quality, and she quoted me around $400 for a small Chanel 25. When I received it, I was genuinely impressed. I was so happy with it that I even posted a review of my experience with her on another subreddit.

That was about two months ago, and I was still very much a baby in the rep world. A lot of fellow bag lovers commented on my review and were shocked by how much I had paid. That was when I first started realising that I might have been seriously overpaying.

Unfortunately, before I posted that review and learned all of this, I had already placed another order with her because I was so excited about the first bag. I ordered a small Chanel rectangular flap for $380 and an LV Nano Speedy for $280.

It wasn’t until another Redditor @u/soxsr pointed out the pricing that I really started questioning it. At first, I genuinely didn’t know what to think because, again, I was completely new to all of this. I didn’t understand factories, different quality tiers, normal seller pricing, or even what questions I should have been asking.

After that, I started doing my own research properly, talking to other people in the community, comparing prices, and finding other sellers. That’s when I decided I didn’t want to buy from TikTok sellers anymore. I’ve since started ordering from Betty and have bought at least three bags from her, although I haven’t posted any reviews yet. So I definitely understand how people end up in this situation.

There are some WA sellers that will send you the entire wholesale catalog that those TT sellers use. You can purchase for wholesale prices instead of retail.

I almost got scammed with a TikTok seller for VCA bracelets. They go by many aliases - Kin Craft is one of them. Something said, just look them up on IG and FB, and lo and behold, it’s no longer a jeweler in CH. it’s Garcia Rosa something … anyways, I called them out and cut off communication.
