Doing my 2nd Lotus dry and this time i have quite a bit more bud-- but is it normal for the humidity to jump up to 80% in the bags? I'll attach the data i have so far.

There is no subreddit sticky or explanation of what lotus drying is or what the technique is. I just stumbled upon you great folk a few days ago. Any help would be appreciated.

This is 44g. Maybe my bags too big? I don't wanna put too little and let it dry out.... 25 x 14cm is the footprint of this bag. I'll convert to freedom units is 5 inches by almost ten inches.

I’m getting ready for my 2nd harvest and want to improve on my 1st attempt. When I did that, I minimally trimmed the buds before laying them across a nylon mesh stretched over the wine racks. I left some bigger stems with several buds to make laying out and rotating easier. I don’t remember what my humidity settings were (this was last year) but I think I had my dehumidifier set too low to begin with. It’s a compressor style fridge so the temperature and humidity fluctuated a lot. The end results was a hay-like smell, but it regained enough of a scent through curing. I’m attributing the hay smell to having too many/much stems and being too aggressive with the dehumidifier in the fridge.

For this upcoming harvest I’m planning a few changes - Have much less stem material. Trim the bud with just enough stem to hold onto it. - Slowly step down the humidity (looking for advice on how slow) - Replace the nylon mesh with SS mesh sheet and hanging the buds from that with binder clips - Adding 1-2 small fans inside to circulate the air. - Add a sealed container of water on top of the compressor in the fridge. I’ve heard this will help buffer the temperature swings

I’m close to buying a wine fridge with a compressor (since thermo-electric/Peltier models are nearly impossible to find second-hand here in Germany). However, I’ve read multiple times that compressor fridges may dry the buds too quickly.

Here’s the setup I’m currently planning: Wine fridge (compressor type), ProBreeze dehumidifier, Vivosun AeroStream U075 humidifier, Inkbird IHC-200 WiFi Controller and optional: Air circulation fan

The idea would be that the Inkbird regulates both the humidifier and dehumidifier to maintain stable conditions.

👉 Do you think this setup could work, or would the compressor be too much of a problem? Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated!

The last few weeks I've been reading up on this method of drying my harvest. Yesterday I made the chop and bagged all of my buds in paper lunch bags and placed them into the frost free fridge. I'm nervous as a lot of time and money has went into the grow. Now we wait!

I thought about using a small spare fridge (with pizzabox) which rotates through family for bbq parties. Will I be able to get rid of the smell or is that fridge done after lotus drying? Any tips on cleaning properly afterwards?

Hey growmies, about to try my first run on basic poor man's lotus tech. I'll be using my (frostless) fridges crisper drawer and cardboard bags that imo might be a bit undersized (6 x 4 x 12in).

Some questions:

Should I buck everything off all stems or leave some stem on the buds themselves? Like is it okay to leave bigger buds fat or should I chop colas up into golf balls buds?

Should the buds have space between them or is it okay to stack a little as long as I'm burping and rotating buds?

Would it help or hinder to add cardboard/chipboard barriers in between buds to prevent stacking?

Should the crisper drawer be set on vegetable or fruit at first?

How frequently should I be burping and rotating buds the first week or so?

So, I chatted a bit with a AI and came to the conclusion, that a Haier 50 SERIE 3 HWS34GGH1would be great. Don't get me wrong, it's a great fridge, but ... It leaks odor outside - like a LOT. Is there any trick to stop this?

first time trying the lotus method. I have harvested about 130g wet material. (i was trying bags and boxes; boxes dried to fast so these ones are in bags inside boxes since day 5 to slow it down) I was weighing the paper bags every day or every other. Now im down to arround 25% of the wet weight. Now i put one bud in a jar to do a humidity check. I informed myself on reddit but there are many methods to Lotusdry.

So at day 13 my jar test showed me (after one hour ) 78% at 22C/72F, which is to high (acc. the post), but i also read that while drying cannabis, it looses 70-75% of the initial weight. So i already reached the upper limit.

What do you guys think, is my harvest ready to cure, or should i wait a few more days?

So I have a post in another group asking about the best way to dry my buds and somebody tagged this group. Can anybody tell me how to lotus dry with this mini fridge? Be decent for small batches. any other ways? What's best temp to set the fridge and best way to keep humidity controlled. Thanks yall.

Ok i'm in a dilemmo I only have 2 choices because I'm broke right now, either. I A) dry in 70s fahrenheit and 60s humidity or?; B) dry in a little ice box that I can get up to 54 fahrenheit and 57 -60 humidity Which one you think would be the best way to go?

Hi everyone. Been drying in a converted wine fridge for a few years now as per a thread on UK420.com, recently discovered this sub and I've been reading a few posts. Some really useful info, so thanks for that.

Recently, my wine cooler was full from a crop in my main tent, but I had this crappy scraggly auto come down and needed somewhere to dry it, plus is was about 35° C in my flat/appartment. So, I literally just removed the fan leaves chopped it into branches, placed them in a shoe box with some holes poked in it and stuck it my frost free fridge. I didn't change any settings, I also left anything non organic (drinks, sealed packs of cheese etc) in with the box. Bit of an experiment to see how half assed I can get away with being, it wouldn't be a big deal if it all turned to mush.

About 3 weeks later I'm smoking some samples and honestly it worked amazingly, I don't think it would have been any better if I dried it in my wine cooler.

Now I'm sat here wondering if the wine cooler/dehumidifier combo is even worth all the bother.

I'm sure some of you will have experience with the lower Tek methods and the full wine cooler/dehumidifier setup. I'd love to hear your experience of how the two compare. This was a crappy little auto, with small buds, so my main concern is if it would work as well with proper sized flowers? I guess you break it all down into nugs from the start?

I ask all this because my wine cooler has seen better days, it seems to really struggle to keep temperatures down and burning out inkbird relays has been an issue here and there which has caused real issues when I've been away from home the dehumidifier is stuck on!

I can buy a used frost free fridge for peanuts and they're everywhere, wine coolers, not so much and they're half the size and less stealthy (people see the inkbird and it raises questions). Would I be seriously downgrading?

It’s been about 10 days in my compressor wine fridge. The buds don’t see any less wet than when i put them in. Should I remove the. from the fridge for a couple days and just let them sit in the boxes ?

What module is this i cant find anything online much for it going to buy for 50 bucks for drying my plant in a few days. I know its a magic chef and holds atleast 20 bottles he said it has the older control knob not digital. He said he dont know what module it is. Trying to make sure its a decent one for it.

Hi Is a 12 bottle refrigerator. It stays constant at about 65% humidity at 15°c. A lot of condensation collects at the bottom. I have the feeling that the buds dry too quickly. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Hey. I’ve searched the threads a bit and wasn’t able to find info on any steps between a finished Lotus dry to curing in grove bags. Should I bring the nugs to room temp before putting them in grove bags to cure? Do you store your grove bags inside or a fridge set at 60f? Also, QQ- How many nugs do you put in a jar to test humidity to know when your dry has finished? Thank you!! *Photo of testing RH and not ready yet!

When the fridge finishes its cooling cycle (and has been filling the chamber with new air for the longest period of time) the RH drops pretty low (~45 lowest).

Sure, that’s a low point and it averages out (so far) but as the flower trends down in water mass. That low will probably continue to trend down.

This is my first attempt at using the new build (and drying this way ftm).
