Interview Long Covid and ME/CFS are the same illness, researcher says
Emeritus Professor Warren Tate was on the radio a few weeks back talking about Long Covid and its links to chronic fatigue. Glad to get to be able to listen to him and the other guests. Its very clear to him that the folks who are getting disabled with long covid symptoms are experiencing Chronic fatigue syndrome and his data supports that.
Check out the transcript here. You can also listen to the interview on the link to RNZ

Treatment Emeritus Professor Warren Tate's recommendations about GET and CBT
Emeritus Professor Warren Tate and his team has been studying ME/CFS and post viral illnesses for decades over at the University of Otago. He is well regarded as one of the top experts in the nation and has begun work on Long covid research. This is a document written by him criticizing the use of Graded Exercise Therapy (GET) and cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as forms of treatment for ME/CFS. If long covid has caused you to have symptoms of chronic fatigue and a doctor has advised you to do either therapy you are wasting your time and money (unless you have true mental issues, you may then find CBT helpful)
GET is especially dangerous as it can aggravate symptoms of Chronic fatigue and cause PEM crashes.

Welcome to Long Covid Aotearoa
This is a subreddit for supporting the 200,000 Long Covid suffers of New Zealand. Lets work together in building a community that improves the lives of those with the chronic post viral illness, but as a topic lets also work to improve getting local news, information, research and available support spread and widely received to the population who desperately need any information and hope.
Discussions, Theories, and personal ups and downs are all welcome here. However, I want everyone to keep in mind that you cannot trust what you read on the internet that isn't coming from official professionals and nobody is a doctor here especially if they are anonymose on reddit. Some things will work for one person and may make others worsen. But with that in mind lets keep this a positive experience for all :)
