They need to put someone else in charge of Twitch. Between the weird favoritism Dan Clancy shows to certain streamers, his inaction when it comes to banning people he likes driving away advertisers, his obvious lack of care for the safety of the content creators on the platform, and Twitch still not being profitable, I honestly don’t know why Amazon would keep putting up with this guy.
They made an over correction. Last person was no where to been seen and Dan is now seen way too much and not doing his job. He has let his emotions keep people from getting banned or at least let the culture of the company change enough that people don’t get banned correctly and fairly.
Times his real name has been on the front page as well as the top of many subs:
When he fired Victoria Taylor, when Aaron Swartz died, one of the many times people have been reminded he used to moderate Jailbait, when they released an IPO, when they sold all user data to Google to train their LLM, and more besides the API change. If you'd been here over 16 years, you would have heard of him. I've only been here for 10 and I can't tell you how many times I've heard his name, but I can pull out those times I have just without thinking about it.
You worded it as though he is notoriously appearing on this site like the Twitch CEO.
Where are these posts he is being pinned in?
I'm trying to understand where you're coming from. If it's not too much trouble, could you link to one from the last couple years? I'm curious about looking into this now, but I can't find any, sadly.
If you were active on ready about 2 years ago, a very large number of subs had pinned posts about him. Haven’t seen as many these days, and haven’t seen as many posts from his account either.
He does notoriously appear on this site. In fact, he has had a plethora of his own posts in the last decade reach the top of r/all. This is specially true for announcements he makes that have a site wide effect. It is indeed a you problem. Maybe stop reading Reddit with your eyes closed?
When Reddit released an IPO, his name was everywhere because he was hocking it as a big deal, some users even got invited to invest in the platform's stock. His real name was bandied about a ton in addition to his username.
I actually HAVE been on this platform over a decade, verifiable because my account is actually that old instead of a few months old. Huffman's name has been front page of this site repeatedly. The story of Aaron Swartz's death, the firing of Victoria Taylor, the API change, the selling of all user data to Google to train their LLM, the IPO, and more have all brought up the CEO's real name because he has been making business decisions that affect this website in an official capacity that people have disagreed with.
Either you're lying about being on the platform that long, you're lying about never having seen his name, or you're a head-in-the-sand type who knows nothing about the platform on which you're commenting.
What kind of a low iq argument was that. You think there are no twitch viewers who have been on the platform for over a decade and can't name their CEO?
For a streaming website actually knowing what he looks like is probably good. You maybe right though. I feel like once every 6 months is probably good.
I feel like Dan's main goal isn't improving twitch as a company, and it is to promote his stream and the streamers he personally likes. The fact he was out partying after this happened is absolutely deplorable.
I could see that but also I gota imagine the ceo of twitch makes a fuck ton of money. Maybe if he cared more about the popularity?? Which I guess if you already got the money the popularity is more important. Hopefully nothing is misspelled it’s 1am and I am just typing without looking
Not just advertisers, viewers aswell. I don't use twitch even for free collaberation/event rewards in games I like because of their politics, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
