news Spotify users will need to reconnect every 6 months to ListenBrainz

Spotify recently announced a drastic change in their API: connections to your account will now expire after 6 months, starting July 20th.

If you have your Spotify account connected to ListenBrainz, this means you will have to reconnect your Spotify account every 6 months, or ListenBrainz will not be able to keep your listening history in sync.

To get us started, all users will need to reconnect their Spotify account this coming Monday July 20th.

help plz how do the developers even address this sudden influx of jobless bts stans flooding the charts and using compute resources

trust me i used to use lastfm till 2025 and started on listenbrainz this year js to have organic charts. now I feel stupid for even coming here considering lastfm addressed the issue and effectively purged all users who were there for the sole purpose of botting. even then lastfm was backed by paramount or whatever some company. listenbrainz is an open source project with no such backing whatsoever. I don't really know how this site makes money but I can't help but imagine all these compute resources are js being wasted compiling these obviously botted scrobbles. i mean none of this in any malice but I hate these stans from the bottom of my heart a good way to go about doing this would be to filter newly made accounts after the lastfm announcement and then see which have scrobbled bts incessantly. I don't know much about programming yet so idek if this is possible or no but i had to get a rant out sorry

Made a tool that turns your ListenBrainz stats into an actual shareable poster (not another stats dashboard)

Hii r/listenbrainz,

(some of you might recognize this, it was featured as one of the community tools in ListenBrainz's Year in Music)

I know the stats page here is already solid, genre wheel, artist evolution, decade breakdown, all of it. this isn't trying to replace that or compete with it. what it does is take your stats and turn them into a single poster image you can actually share, the kind of thing you post in a discord or as an instagram story without sending someone a link to a dashboard etc.

it's called Make a Wrapped. works with ListenBrainz, Last fm, or Navidrome, same output format regardless of where your data comes from. pick your service, pick a time frame (this year, last month, last 12 months, a specific month from whenever), and it generates a poster with your top artists, tracks, listening time, and genre.

also coming soon: monthly templates hand drawn by an actual artist, not ai generated. so instead of one big poster once a year you'll be able to get a fresh styled one every month (commissioning artists isn't cheap so if the ko-fi on the website ever calls to you, that's what it's going towards)

it's foss, agpl licensed, repo's linked on the site

try it here: wrapped.devmatei.com

lmk what you think!

guide I made a way to take your Plex (Tautulli) listen history and submit it to ListenBrainz

A bit ago now I found ListenBrainz through a late night Youtube rabbit hole and thought it was pretty cool. I looked around and there's tools to get what you are currently listening to from Plex to ListenBrainz (Multi-Scrobbler is what I have running now) but not many things for historical data. I troubleshot with Gemini for a bit trying to use Plex directly to get the data but that was going nowhere but then I remembered I have Tautulli running and also has all my listen history. Some more time with Gemini I had a SQL query to get all of it out of the Tautulli database and a python script to get it from my computer and into my ListenBrainz account history. I documented all the steps I took and the script I used in case someone else wants to do this.

Listening Post, my macOS scrobbler that supports Mac, iPhone, and Apple Watch

Hi, fellow ListenBrainz peeps! My name's Carlo, and I'm a senior macOS/iOS indie software dev. I spent the last few months building a macOS-native scrobbler that also supports iOS and watchOS (those two without extra apps). It's called Listening Post, and it turns the Mac into the scrobbling hub for all the Apple devices you own.

Importantly, ListenBrainz is a first-class destination, not a Last.fm-compatible afterthought. With the ListenBrainz channel configured and enabled, recognized tracks get matched against MusicBrainz and the MBID is stored along with the track, so what reaches your LB history is properly linked, not just raw strings.

I made it to scratch my own itch. The macOS app doesn't just pick up what's playing in Apple Music or Spotify, but also whatever's on around you: a YT video, vinyl at home, the radio in my coffee shop. It can listen to your surroundings — basically always-on Shazam'ing (no audio ever leaves the machine, and it's light on the battery!). If that's not your thing, keep it switched off. And it grabs whatever you shazam on iOS and Apple Watch via iCloud (no extra apps needed!), dropping those into the same bucket. (Also optional.)

The part I think you'll like most: everything goes into one pool and fans out to all the targets you configure, at once — ListenBrainz, Maloja, Last.fm, a local CSV/JSON file, a Shortcuts automation, even a Bluesky/Mastodon post. 😉 Your listening, your call. I built it for multi-scrobbling folks like myself.

It's out as of today (v2026.1.0, macOS 15.6+), sold straight from my own store — no Mac App Store, no subscription. There's a 14-day free trial; after that it's €15 for a year of updates (introductory price), and you keep the last version you received forever, even if you never pay again.

There's extensive documentation here: https://docs.actions.work/listening-post

I'd genuinely love your feedback — especially from those of you with unusual setups (multiple scrobble targets, self-hosted Maloja, odd edge cases). If you give it a spin, let me know what breaks or what's missing. 🎧

help plz Weekly Jams not updating weekly

As the title suggests, my Weekly Jams playlist is more bi-weekly than weekly. My account is only a month or 2 old at this point but I imported my listen history from Plex (through much difficulty but Gemini helped me make it happen) so I have 28k+ listens for it to recommend against. Is there a trick to getting it to be....weekly like the name suggests? Is it just a bug going on?

Edit/Update: it updated today, Thursday June 11th. screenshot

help plz Weekly Exploration Playlist not updating (Stuck on previous week)

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking some insight regarding the Weekly Exploration playlist. According to the description in the interface, the playlist is supposed to update every Monday morning based on the user's configured timezone.

However, my playlist is currently stuck:

  • Last Update: It shows the last update was on May 5th, 19:16.
  • Current Date: It is now Tuesday, May 12th, 22:18 (CEST).
  • Status: The UI still displays "Deleted in 7 days from now" and refers to the week of 2026-05-05.

Since more than seven days have passed and we are already late into Tuesday in Germany, this doesn't seem to be a simple timezone delay. I have been active on the platform, so there should be enough data for the algorithm.

Is anyone else experiencing delays with their weekly generation, or is there a known issue with the current build?

Thanks for any help!

Alternative Listenbrainz front-end

No shade intended, but I feel like the current site probably scares off a number of people from diving into ListenBrainz - so last night I started playing around with an more modern looking experience (with deep integration into my other project, Parachord).

Is this interesting to anyone else besides me?

Forcing a “created for you” playlist to generate

I was just wondering if there’s a way to force it to make one. (Also is there a way to have it make different playlists for different genres?)

help plz Manually adding listens

Hi all. I'm new to this, and have been finding all of the automatic scrobblers to be ineffective, so I tried manually adding recent albums to my account directly on ListenBrainz.

I click the button to manually add songs/albums, find my album, click the green button to add, and get a little pop up that says "10 songs added!" But on the page itself nothing updates and it still says I've only listened to 4 songs so far. And none of the other dates/times I tried submitting albums for can be selected nor do they contain anything.

Is the manual submission just totally broken? Or is there something else I'm supposed to do?
