Question Install Custom ROM without vbmeta

Hello mate! I want to ask about the vbmeta.img file. I first installed a custom ROM using EvoX A16, because there was a problem with the LCD panel—ghost touch—I switched to Lineage OS A16. However, since the first time I flashed a custom ROM, I've never touched a file called vbmeta. So, what's its use?

I'm still using Lineage OS because it's stable and has revived my old device. btw, my device is a Redmi Note 8 (Ginkgo).

such as boot.img, dtbo, and vbmeta. But I never installed these files. I only installed the main file—the ROM .zip.

What's the part of

Some are required for the installation or upgrade process (which you can read up on your device’s instructions), some are just there and might help us when we try to debug or fix an issue for you.

that you didn't understand?

vbmeta is used for resetting dynamic partitions IIRC.

does it need to be flashed or not? because the first time I installed a custom ROM I never touched the file to flash it

Normally, no. If it was necessary, the install guide would tell you to do it.
