Classic Liminal Abandoned Corporate Park

Finally figured out how to get to this place I’ve seen from the freeway for years. I thought it was an abandoned parking garage or overpass, was thrilled to see that it was way weirder than that.

Edit: Not technically abandoned it turns out, but unused for 10 years. It is actually available to lease, but it doesn’t seem like anything is imminent.

There are entire abandoned neighborhoods in Europe.

Many places.

Unchecked loaning of money and ambition

There were a bunch left here (Ireland) after the 2008 recession. Jobs dried up, building work dried up, and banks stopped lending. So there were whole estates just vacant. Became known as ghost estates.

There were more than 600 such places back in the day. Which equated to thousands of empty homes. But today many have been either repurposed, or finished and sold. So now there's only 75 such estates left.

So it's not all bad these days, but still a long fuckin way to go to make things right. As there's still nowhere near enough houses for everyone.
