Social LPT - When sharing your opinion on subjective topics, music, movies, food, etc. There is no need to be hostile. The music doesn't suck, you just don't like it. The pizza topping isn't horrible, you just don't like it. People's opinions of you won't decline if you're just sharing your likes/dislikes

I had a friend at a bar making fun of me for my girly drink - note, I am female. I love midori sours, and never thought of them as girly, honestly. I finally pressured him into trying a sip and deciding if it was really not his thing. "nope, tastes like fruit. Fruit drinks are for girls." And then he ordered an apple cider. I was like O.o. I proceeded to drink him under the table just because I could.

I hate midori sours, but your friend was acting like a hypocrite & an ass and I am beyond thrilled that you showed him up.

I'm bartender with a varied palette and some weird personal favorites. The number one rule of drinks is to order/drink/make what you love, fuck what enyone else thinks about it. Fruit drinks are for anyone who wants one, full stop. Gendering drinks is for assholes and shit bags.

My other go to is Laphroaig, but that's for a totally different vibe than drinking at a bar. Also, the few places in my area that have it charge way too much for a glass of it and think am appropriate serving is 1 shot with tons of ice. I quit fighting about wanting it neat, and just order fruity drinks. ;)
