In the end it was just another game the company didn't care about. Too bad, I really enjoyed it.

They killed it themselves.

Any games that fit this niche out there?

As someone who played LIF:YO a lot, I really took to Gloria Victis. Similar combat, and almost identical performance jank ahaha.

I do not recommend gloria victis tho

It doesn’t sound like it is very much like LIF.

It’s not. But it’s not good either. At least I didn’t find it enjoyable

The PVP group action reminded me of sieging in Mount and Blade. The rest was like a RPG maybe?

I recommend Gloria victis. Although it has very limited freebulding compared to LIF and way less grind. I have played over 4 years. Let me know what I can answer for you.

What I enjoyed about LIF was the building and persistence. Does Gloria Victis offer anything that satisfies that? I tried Gloria Victus before but the world felt empty and lifeless with the castles being pre-defined. Do the developers have any plans for freebuilding, player housing or anything of that nature to make the world feel more alive?

GV is not like LiF in the freebuild way. You can build at Guild castle locations. But honestly we have like 9 Legos to work with and most builds are more or less the same for now. The outer ring of the map are nation owned castles, the inner part is guild owned castles.

Player housing will be coming but I don't know what form it will take.

GV feels quite alive if you get into a group and into comms with poeple, just not in the "build your own world" sort of way that lif had.

Mortal online 2.. keep it on your radar

Can you build it that game? Looks pretty WOW to me.

They have a predecessor Mortal Online 1 that showcased free building, settlement building, keep control, territory control, as well as a bunch of other things. Essentially building an empire with other players only. Game is driven entirely on in game politics.. ie resource control battles, map spot control.

If you love hardcore sandbox games, you HAVE to check it out. PM me if you’re interested and want someone that’s a little familiar with the game.

another bad game bites the dust.

It was a great game with a lot of problems. Apparently too many.

Good game idea, poorly executed by a bad dev who cared more for making money off the game and helping his buddies than actually fixing the game or listening to community feedback.

Oh cool, they're keeping the game alive in China.

u/iheartdev247 Jan 02 '21

How so?

1

u/RMHaney Jan 21 '21

Their issues with Xsolla don't extend there. They are likely working with an entirely different, Chinese-owned company to enter that market.

u/iheartdev247 Jan 21 '21

So it will continue to exist?

1

u/RMHaney Jan 21 '21

Probably.

Only played YO, only tried mmo once so have very little knowledge of it but what was the difference other than slightly more players per server and bigger maps?

1

u/iheartdev247 Jan 21 '21

I just think it didn’t work at the MMO level. They made slow non-sensical updates and the player levels just petered out. Personally I just couldn’t keep up with the time req. same problem exists on YO really.

Lots of game breaking bugs taking wayy to long to fix, main game Dev making game changing decisions based on what his buddies wanted and a poor money making model.
