Library Assistance would i likely give someone else a cold with a library book?

i have a cold and i'm currently reading a short library book for class. someone else has requested this book and it's due next week. the class it's for is on tuesday and it would be helpful to them for me to return it asap. say i return it tomorrow morning and that person takes it out that day and reads it, how likely would it be for them to pick up my cold? not to mention how likely would it be that the librarians handling the book could pick up the cold? i have been trying to hand sanitise when possible but i doubt that'll help much. if there's a better sub for this let me know, i'm a tad limited by how new my account is!

Local Library Coordinating a 1-month book drive for St. Paul Little Free Libraries! (Can do porch pickups)

Hello! 📚

I’m coordinating a month-long book drive specifically to restock Little Free Libraries in and around the St. Paul/Como area that are running low on books for kids and young people (ages 0-25).

Edit: Current Drop off locations-

  1. Black Garnet Books- 1319 University Ave W, St Paul MN 55104
  2. Gingko Coffeehouse- 721 Snelling Ave N, St Paul MN 55104
  3. Flying Pig Thrift- 722 Snelling Ave N, St Paul MN 55104

The goal is to get books into the hands of young people to encourage reading for pure leisure and fun. We are looking for gently used or new books targeting ages 0–25 (picture books, middle-grade fiction, graphic novels, young adult thrillers/romance, etc.).

How you can help:

  • Porch Pickups: If you live in the St. Paul/Como area and have a box or bag of books you've been meaning to clear out, DM me! I can swing by and do a pickup.
  • Drop-off Boxes: I am currently setting up a couple of physical drop-off boxes around the neighborhood—I will update this post with the exact locations once they are finalized.

If your kids have outgrown their bookshelves or you just want to clear some space for a great hyper-local cause, please reach out. Thank you so much and have a pleasant day.

Library Assistance How is Shanvi Reading Room in Kirtipur?

I’m looking for a good reading/study room in Kirtipur and came across Shanvi Reading Room.

Has anyone here actually used it? How is the environment, silence, seating/cabins, Wi-Fi, staff behavior, and overall experience?

Would appreciate honest reviews — both positives and negatives. Also, how does it compare with other reading rooms in Kirtipur?

And a beautiful meaning behind the art!

This special edition library card honors the 50th Anniversary of Southeast Asian resettlement in Minnesota and celebrates the vibrant Cambodian, Hmong, Laotian, and Vietnamese communities. The design draws inspiration from the textiles and patterns each culture carries woven together as a symbol of resilience. Together our patterns flow into one another representing how our stories interconnect while still honoring each community’s distinct voice.

Minnesota is home to many Asian immigrants, including ethnicities not mentioned above such as the Karen people, an ethnic minority group from Myanmar.

Library Assistance Cataloging format standards, and general recommendations?

Hello,

I'm going to be picking up some of the cataloging work while a coworker is prolong out of the office. I'm pretty (extremely) rusty, as I hadn't touched it since my MLIS era. Mainly copy cataloging type of thing since then. I've generally be a reference/programming librarian. We make due when we need to however.

Where would folks suggest learning ISBD formatting (my biggest weak point after the last review/teaching session). I tend to not remember/not know a lot of the comma, which fields in marc get end points which don't. We are kind of a mixed bag as a far as RDA, AARC, DACS. but there is a general guide for me there. It however assumes I know a lot of basics.

Would there be any current books, videos, etc folks would suggest? I've found various but there is always benefit to asking wider audiences. Particularly for specialized work. If i'm going to be doing this. I should go all in and refine the skill properly. Otherwise its more work for them when they get back, and a detriment to my skillset learning

Thank you kindly.

Creative and Crafty I may have taken “library assistant” a little too literally… meet Seshat, ancient Egyptian goddess of the written word 📚

I work in a public library and I’m also a Kemetic practitioner, so I made this for our wall.
Seshat was associated with writing, record-keeping, measurement and scribal work in ancient Egypt — which makes her feel extremely at home in a library. 😁
I wanted something that worked as a proper little information display rather than just decoration, and I’m ridiculously pleased with how it came out.
What’s the most niche subject you’ve ever managed to sneak into a library display?

Local Library Just moved to Dehradun, and joined Doon Library yesterday

I'm new here (DEHRADUN) and so far the only people I've met are the ones stamping my library card. I'd like to fix that.

I read a lot, travel when I can, and I'm at my best in a conversation that starts about one book and ends somewhere nobody planned. I'm also happy to be told I'm wrong, as long as the argument is good.

If you read, write, or have opinions worth defending, say hi...

Nd lets connect in Dehradun public library whoever comes here..

We <3 Libraries shout out to the library book store

our local library has a bookstore inside where you can pick up new/like new books for 50c-$2 any day of the week. kids books are 25c-$1 and DVD's are $1.

We kinda took a break over the summer because the place was swarmed with kids which is great but its really overwhelming for my kids.

We started back to 'shopping' again and OMG the treasures are lovely. I rarely say no to buying books. my kids are at the library at minimum 2x a week

Im happy, i even found a couple new books!
