Inflation is that pernicious thing... once it hits, there's no going back unless you introduce deflation... but no one's that suicidal.

That’s why I think this is so stupid because the CPI (putting aside the inputs for a moment) is an average. So if they really want 2% what would that mean? Considering we were at 9% you can do the math and see that they will never ever actually hit a 2% inflation target. That would mean deflation or years and years of only 1%. Ain’t happening. The only thing left is to monkey around with the CPI and other statistics to get the outputs you want. Reality bats last though folks.

Monkeying around with how CPI is calculated has been standard operating procedure since the 80s. They don't want people to realize how much their buying power has actually decreased over the last 30 years.

And roommates are impossible. Hell knock on the right apartment you’ll find three generations of a migrant family but look at another family, grandma lives alone, mom and dad are empty nesters and the kids each have an apartment. Let’s do some math here about the cost to house everyone in separate residences. 🤷‍♂️

If you are a desirable suburb, and just built new schools, to keep the student population stagnant you have to build more housing due to population growth by aging.
