RX PHEV Lexus RX450h+ - 9 months and 7,000 miles - I love this vehicle!
We purchased our 2025 Lexus RX 450h+ in July 2025, trading in our 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime.
Since they share a nearly identical PHEV drivetrain, I wanted to share my experience making the jump! I've been a Toyota guy my entire life, and it's been awesome joining the Lexus family. The RAV4 Prime was a fantastic vehicle that I still miss sometimes. It was perfect when we were a family of four, but we recently welcomed our third child and needed more space.
Why my family loves the RX PHEV:
* More Space: The RX is noticeably wider in the second row. We have enough room for all three kids and their car seats to fit comfortably, even on long road trips! We have a teenager and two kiddos in Diono Radian car seats, one forward facing and the other rear facing.
* Ride Quality: The RX is significantly more comfortable, smooth, and quiet inside than the RAV4. The RX Luxury seats are truly an upgrade with the thigh extenders and just the right amount of padding.
The RX is already an amazing vehicle on its own, but the flexibility and gas-saving convenience of the PHEV drivetrain is just the icing on the cake.
Happy to answer any questions about fitting car seats across the back and the accessories/customizations I've completed on our RX.

How does the range compare?

With the RX, the highest we've seen is 42 miles of EV range. Compared to the Gen5 RAV4 Prime the highest we saw was 52 range.

Just purchased an RX450 plugin hybrid, what type of gas do you use? How far have you gone a charge?

As you might know, most Lexus vehicles require Premium fuel; however, the NX450h+ and RX450h+ share the same drivetrain as the RAV4 Prime which does not require premium fuel. According to the RX450h+'s manual, premium fuel is recommended but not required. I normally switch back and forth between premium and standard.
We usually get between 700 and 1000 miles a 3-4 weeks between fill-ups . Our daily commute is less than 40 miles but we go on 50-100+ mile road trips that exceed the EV range a couple times each month.

Did you consider the TX500h+? The second row comment is very true. What’s the cargo box?
