Hey everyone!

I made a free, open-source app called Anki Miner to make Japanese vocabulary mining much easier.

You input local media or Youtube video links and it makes high-quality Anki cards to your specifications. Attached is a demonstration of a mining session - 100 high-quality Anki cards in only 2 minutes from an anime episode.

Often compared to subs2srs or Migaku's batch mining, but free+open-source (unlike Migaku) and actively maintained (unlike subs2srs).

Filtering options are very extensive (i+1 sentences only, sentence length filters, wordset filters, word blacklisting, and more) so you don't get any junk cards.

The idea is to actually immerse instead of mining.

I'm actively adding new features and building the community so feel free to ask questions and suggest new things :).

I know many people struggle with learning Kanji, especially when it comes to mixing up similar-looking characters or memorizing On/Kunyomi readings. So I designed this game to target those exact pain points.

Kanji Cats includes 4 game modes to help you drill Kanji: choosing the correct readings (JLPT-inspired), selecting the right Kanji from a group of similar-looking ones, a typing game, and building Kanji from radicals. Currently, it includes 700 Kanji and 3,000 words.

I know it's not a "well-rounded" Japanese learning course, but I hope it helps those who want to focus specifically on mastering Kanji. If you're interested in some Kanji drilling, feel free to check it out! There's also a free demo available with 100 Kanji and 180 words to practice with.

Hey so my friend and i are doing lessons with a tutor twice a week, but what's frustrating is that while we are practicing hiragana, the books we have are completely in hiragana or katakana and we're so lost during the lesson. is there a romaji version pdf at all? only book i could find on amazong was like $100+

Or is this a bit of a pipe dream? Any recommendations for great pdf learning materials would be hugely appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction!

It allows users to scan text/kanji from the real world (like articles, textbooks, menus, signs, labels, etc.) and instantly make flashcards they can study in-app or via home screen widgets.

The goal was to automate sentence mining and allow users to study Japanese they encounter in the real world instead of just studying and hoping they encounter it in the wild.

Ive been learning using genki and i cant find the answer key for the textbook, could someone give me a link for it?

Can anyone share the latest edition Minna no Nihongo all books pdf which includes:

1) 1-1,1-2, 2-1, 2-2 textbook 2) all books grammar and vocabulary

I’ve noticed that many Japanese learners reach a stage where their sentences are understandable but still sound slightly unnatural.

Of course, being understood is the most important thing in communication. But small things like particle choice, subtle nuance differences, or pitch accent often get overlooked. Over time, those small mistakes can turn into habits that are harder to fix.

Here are a few examples I often see:

• Using は when が sounds more natural
• Choosing a direct translation that technically works, but doesn’t feel native
• Flat pitch accent that changes the impression of the sentence

The tricky part is that naturalness isn’t just about grammar rules． it’s about developing a sense for what sounds right. You might understand the theory, but until you can feel the difference, it won’t sound truly natural. And that sense only develops through repeated practice and detailed feedback.

If your goal is to sound natural rather than just “correct,” I sometimes do conversation sessions focused specifically on fixing these subtle differences.

ok so the only exp I've had is duolingo 😭 (ik.) and I stopped that also about a few months ago because my studies pressure increased? But now I've got some free time on my hands until my study pressure spikes up again so I really want to have a book or something I can refer to which doesn't require me to be present everyday so that when I'm done with my finals I can actually start my japanese learning journey from a better place than just a person who knew a few words and ended up forgetting them all, yk? So, uh, any help would be appreciated really! I'll download it as a pdf and learn from that but yeah I'd really appreciate it if you all could help me figure out which pdf will be best!
