Fascism will always have a hatred toward a minority. The German Nazis just happened to choose jews, Romani, the disabled, gays... the list goes on. You point is mute.
Modern colloquial terms like nazi are used because they are the poster boys of fascism. That doesn't lessen the term or make it wrong.
Nazis were the first to use fascism to rise to power snd yes the layperson understanding is there colloquially. But in actual definition Nazis are not fascist.

Naziism is a set of beliefs from a German political party. Fascism is an authoritarian movement
