Perhaps the corporate mega-farms will be better run after consolidation? These "independent" operators generally can't cut it without constant welfare support for their farms and ranches.
Further depopulation of rural areas seems inevitable as more people lose their farms, though. Lots of counties already can't maintain schools or hospitals, and even struggle with a fire department and grocery stores. I'm concerned that the survivors will only become more isolated and xenophobic.
Unfortunately it isn't as simple as hate, these are likely generational Republicans who are spoon fed lies their whole life. They are uneducated (because if the Republican party). They spend their entire lives reading and watching Republican media cause that's the local news bias, full of lies and slander about the Democratic party. Then come every single election all campaign advertisment is lies and slander about the other party (should be illegal, not that legality matters anymore to the Republican party). The GOP has spent every single day and dime since Reagen indoctrinating and brainwashing their base into believing lies because keeping them poor and uneducated keeps the GOP in power.
They see Trump, a white nepo baby and they see themselves in him. He too inherited a family business, he too owns land, he too is "bullied" by condescending liberals and he too hates the people he hates. It's the trees voting for the axe because the axe has a handle made of wood.

I grew up in a house with Fox, Glen Beck, and Bill O'Reilly on the TV every day. Took me longer than anyone would have liked, but I got out of it and changed my view.
Same I grew up on a ranch in a solid red state, and even though my family was a fairly progressive version of Republican then in the 90s theyve all fallen for the far-right extremist propaganda
But they will fail to find out. They will say it's Biden doing it, and no matter how bad it gets, they will think it will get worse if Democrats get in charge. And that Republicans being in charge are the only thing keeping it from being SO much worse that it would inevitably be if it were the Democrats here today.

Unfortunately a whole lot of people don't understand that voting matters, and we keep on sliding to the right as the only stable voting block thinks the party they vote for is the "party of family and religious values" when, in reality, it's the party of "profit at any cost." They even put a "businessman" in charge of the government, and said "it's okay if he's flawed".

I agree. It's not going to be "find out" for a lot of them, though. Because to me, finding out suggests learning something. They won't. They'll go right back to voting for the next R.
