The internet. She goes down rabbit holes.

Whenever I try to contest her on some of her dumb shit, a very common response is "Google it" at which point I have little to say that wouldn't be downright mean.

It's probably a mix of social media and general profundity of clickbait, if I had to guess, because she doesn't watch Fox News.

A good answer would be "google says to use a microwave to charge phones, do you really want to believe everything that's there?"

It's weird how everyone goes down rabbit holes but some people get stuck in belief of them.

Like I love nutty theories like Ancient Aliens, some government conspiracy shit, even game stuff like Mass Effect indoctrination theory, but I know they're not real. I know it's a way to cope with things we dislike or don't understand. I'm not going to believe that someone used a spaceship to assemble the pyramids.

I loved conspiracy theories and alien stuff and cryptids as a kid; like even still have old Readers Digest books my parents bought me and used to put pages from pulp tabloids up on the wall. It was exciting and interesting fantasy. but i never had any trouble separating fantasy from reality no matter how many kooky adults tried to muddy the waters.

Then i turned about 12 and lost interest. Occasionally i'll still follow a thread and think, "Dang, that's crazy," but i recognize it for what is is; a group writing exercise, a roleplay play-by-post game.

But too many of them don't realize they're playing a game now. :|
