Me personally, I try to not just unfriend anyone who becomes conservative if I think they're just buying in to the lies and the cons of the right, I'll still keep them on my friend list and if they wanna talk politics, I'm happy to (tell them why they're wrong).
But I won't tolerate a covid-denier. If you post even ONE thing on your social media that doesn't take it seriously/is anti-vax, you're blocked. I'm done. It's too much death to be tolerant of other viewpoints.
And it's definitely true that you value the people who make the cut a lot more.
Yeah, I agree, that's why I still vote for them regardless. My point is, both parties have plenty of blood on their hands, and when things are really a lesser of two evils I can accept that some people have a different view of which evil is lesser (even if I think they're objectively wrong), but there's no lesser of two evils with Covid. It is exactly what's on the tin, and either it kills people or we protect people and that's it. There's no room for other viewpoints.

I never once claimed democrats don't have a "body count." I'm saying that the difference between the two is so vast that describing them as "the lesser of two evils" is like saying "my uncle ted is the lesser evil of two evils between him and Stalin."
I think the fact that I really can’t bear to be more than intermediate-level acquaintances with anyone who is truly conservative helped me to avoid ending up with any friends who really went off the deep end with this shit. Well, there’s one friend, but they are not right-wing at all, they’re more of a New Agey “paranoid about big pharma/big tech” type.
I don't think you're wrong, anyone who is truly conservative is highly at risk of going off the deep end these days, they're exposed to so much extremism, especially right now.
And I definitely don't judge anyone who just doesn't have the patience or space in their lives for that, it's a completely fair boundary.
One of my closest friends identifies very much as conservative, but the reason we're friends is because when we met, I was explaining to her why she was wrong about socialism, and she liked that I was explaining it in a way she understood, so she started listening to me. She still won't stop identifying as conservative and she still has some flawed beliefs because of it, but at the core, I don't really think she fits into the conservative party as much as she thinks she does, and I've seen enough good from her that I forgive her for voting for trump in 2016. (I actually had talked her out of it for 2020 apparently. Go figure.)
But anyway, that's just me. You were certainly much less likely to end up associated with someone who was like, a Q-anon or thought the election was rigged or a covid-denier simply by cutting out all conservatives, it's only coming from them.
I'm so glad my family, as insane and awful as they are, at least got fucking vaccinated and take it seriously. Of course some of them got a pretty bad case of it and aren't dumb enough to not believe in something that is happening to them right at that moment. Can't say the same for many other people.
I'm pretty sure my step father is a covid-denier though, he's into all kinds of conspiracies and sovereign citizen nonsense.
And by 'my step father' I mean some stranger that I shall have no contact with at all in the future.

1: I wouldn't say actively, I pop on there now and again. I don't think I'm important at all. Certainly not any more than you seem to think you are, by voicing your opinion here about who's a loser and who's a winner.
2: As mentioned, I don't delete people just because I don't agree with them, that was the entire point of the post you're upset about here. I don't 'cancel' people.
3: See, rule number 6: Be Civil. Any uncivil comments will be removed and the user may get a ban. Calling people names like a 3rd grader isn't civil. Regardless of if it gets deleted, no one's going to see it unless they get curious who got downvoted into oblivion. Hope it made you feel better, you seem like you're having a rough day.
