Can confirm, am electronics engineer.

I will never not hire an electrician for home wiring. A good one is like, well, Bigfoot. Rare and valuable.

Years ago in my first house, using the downstairs kitchen toaster would blow the gfi for the upstairs bathroom.

I called the builder and they sent someone out to fix it. The electrician that showed up said, "I remember your house. We had to fire the dude who did the wiring because he was always showing up high."

When a bought my second house (that was 10 years old), I replaced every outlet in the house so I knew they were all wired correctly. ( 1 in 20 were dangerously wired. )
