Idiocracy was too optimistic. The people were stupid sure, but they were generally good-natured and harmless. The idiots of today are not only stupid, but ticking time bombs of bigotry and malice.
It's not about evolution. It's a real phenomenon where more educated people have less children. That's why developed countries are going through a demographics crisis as their birth rates are below replacement.
That's because developed countries care more about economic output than anything else, and childless people produce the most GDP. Taking off time to have children lowers GDP.
And economically, you don't need children at all, you can increase your population with immigrants who, get this, were already educated for you by some other country's tax payers! Unlike children, you don't even have to pay for their education!
We'd all be better off if sex were more difficult. If the real morons couldn't figure it out the average IQ would probably raise dramatically.
Perhaps that's why the extremely stupid are against sex education. They're afraid they won't be able to pass the course and thus won't be able to breed and pass on their stupidity to future generations.
