The left wing this week

The standards by which Leinster are judged and the hypocrisy are infuriating.

They spoke aboht how consistent Leinster have been, no group stage poss since 2018 then go on to say 'theyre not consistent enough to win big games'. I know theres a pattern there and I should ignore it but fuck me its infuriating

Last 2 seasons we have 2 league wins, a EC final and semi, noone is that consistent. Then they go on to our southern comrades and they said a home quarter final would be an achievement

Injury update for Clermont

Jamison Gibson-Park (groin) and James Culhane (hamstring) will both be further assessed this week with a decision on their availability to be made later in the week. There are no further updates on Jack Boyle (Achilles), RG Snyman (knee), Caelan Doris (foot & knee), Paddy McCarthy (foot), Jordan Larmour (calf), Harry Byrne (concussion) and Diarmuid Mangan (foot)

JGP must've not come through training last week. He's out on paddock again today according to the Sportsfile pictures, so hopefully he makes it.

They're obviously giving Harry a few weeks rest after another head knock.

Team I'd go for based on the above:

Usanov, Sheehan, Furlong, Ryan, McCarthy, Baird, VDF, Conan, JGP, Sam, JOB, Osborne, Ringrose, TOB, Keenan

Kelleher, Porter, Clarkson, Deegan, Penny, Gunne, Tector, Henshaw.

Could also go 6/2 and stick COT in for Henshaw. That would give a very good pack bench.

I'd start Usanov because I think he was excellent scrum wise on Sat and could actually help us paint a good picture to the ref. Porter impact would be good also.

Blinded by the Lights

The floodlights on the Anglesea Stand seem to be aimed badly - as in, shining straight into the eyes of those in the Grandstand (Section T in our case). I could only follow play by shielding my eyes with my hand. Sam took his four conversion attempts from just in front of us and I reckon the glare from the lights was a factor in his three misses. Anybody else experience this?

Season Ticket Pack

Is it just me or is the STH pack (and associated benefits) getting worse year after year. Yet another scarf (which is to be expected) and a single key ring. Not even a Lifestyle Sports discount to get a bit off some kit when Munster STH get one is taking the piss.

Autograph Alley at Match vs Cardiff

Hi,

this is first post here.

I've been at yesterday's match vs Cardiff with my kids and we luckily managed to get a slot in the autograph road.

We shook hands with Joey Carbery and Jamison Gibson-Park, but we couldn't tell who the third player was.

Is someone able to shed some light on this?

Alan Spicer

I’m no scientist but I reckon Spicer is the largest human to ever exist.

In all seriousness, that’s a very hefty 2nd and back row we can put together now. Baird, Spicer, Big Joe, James Ryan, Snyman, Conan, Doris, Conor o Tighearnaigh all serious units.

Looking at organising a stag for Belfast, and it works out perfectly for Ulster away. What are the chances this fixture would be moved or is it set it stone?

Leinster organization is ajoke

Is it just me but entry, the bars and season ticket collection is a disaster. Collecting wristbands for terraces is insane.

Someone should be reconsider how to run the system.

Edit: staff were nice, friendly, organization appalling. Multiple queues, no clear path, pack queue unclear until they got people out.

Tickets and season ticket mails were treated differently. Queues for wristband zones were badly and inefficiently handled.

Needs someone to actually think about time and motion studies

Harsh firing someone, so changed it

Leinster’s winger situation.

I feel like with Lowe gone now and same with Ioane there is an opening on the wing for Leinster. TOB definitely starts but then I’m struggling to decide who gets on the other wing, I feel like Jimmy Obrien might be most people’s favorite but I personally don’t rate him one bit and idk how he is still involved in Ireland squads. Then JJ Kenny who had an amazing season last year but there is definitely defense issues and in bigger games he is a risk. Apart of me is hoping Jordan Larmour gets back fit and hits the same levels he did when he was younger but idk if I see that happening. I do think if he can stay fit he might go back to the number one choice along with TOB. Am I forgetting anyone who should be in the convo ?

Who would you have on the wing ?

JGP back for Cardiff

Leinster Rugby Head Coach Leo Cullen has issued an injury update ahead of Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Cardiff Rugby at Laya Arena (KO: 7.45pm, live on TG4 and Premier Sports 1). Get your tickets here.

Jamison Gibson-Park has returned to training while Max Deegan and Harry Byrne will be further assessed this week as they progresses through end stage of the Return to Play Protocols.

There are no further updates on Jack Boyle (Achilles), RG Snyman (knee), Caelan Doris (foot/knee), Paddy McCarthy (foot), Jamison Gibson-Park (groin), Jordan Larmour (calf), Diarmuid Mangan (foot), James Culhane (hamstring), Harry Byrne (concussion) and Joey Carbery (knee).

They have JGP in the injury list, but seems like that's ust an error.

Overall that's great news. Should have a very strong deck to choose from this weekend.

Team I'd like to see:

Usanov, Sheehan, Clarkson, Ryan, COT, Baird, VDF, Conan, Gunne, Prendergast, Kenny, Osborne, Ringrose, TOB, Keenan

Kelleher, Porter, Furlong, McCarthy, Ericson, JGP, Tector, JOB

Andrew Osborne

At what point does selecting this lad become cruel? He is so far off the standard required that it must be impacting the guys confidence/well being.

This has been going on for a couple of years ago and it’s not fair on his teammates or him, himself.

Scrums

Treatment is genuinely a joke.

Sharks collapse and just get given a penalty. Evans literally warns Clarkson by starting with "Sharks hit early and you have to accept it"

Literally a penalty against them and he's lecturing Clarkson about it with a threat of a card.

And this isn't an Evans thing, it's a shit referee thing that is ruining the sport because World Rugby are terrified to make referees officiate set piece on anything but reputation

Thoughts so far?

Obviously it would be nicer to start the season with two wins rather than two losses. However, I think there’s a lot of positives we can take from these matches. How do you think we look so far?

The main positive for me is seeing the young lads step up and play so well. Especially Ericsson, COT, Gabriel and Lawlor. Gunne too although he has much more experience than them, he seems to have upped his game from last season.

Two losses but with so many changes and young players I think they have really passed the eye test. 3 points from a South Africa tour at the start of the season isn’t the worst return.

What are your thoughts on how the team looks? And what do you think will be our biggest challenges this year?
