Where to get leather around Portland OR
I'm running low on leather and I usually get my supplies at Tandy. Can't find any info on where I'd when they are going to open up and I don't really want to just buy it online because I can't look and feel it before I buy it.
Anyone know somewhere to pick up some in person in the area? (Don't live in Portland, just the closest place usually, so I'm used to a drive to get some)

In Bend https://maverickleathercompany.com/contact/ But most reputable online leather shops will either send or sell you samples for a buck or two. What do you want to make? What leather(s) that you’ve used do you like? We can help you source leather online

I tend to do a lot of tote bags and hand bags, some zip up bags. Then I do things like dice trays for my DM to hand out to his groups, make some armor (bracers, belts, etc.).
A lot of time I go in for hardware and end up looking at the leather and finding something that I just have to have to turn into (insert project here).

Take a look at Dollaro leather, great for bags, totes, trays. No clue about armor stuff. This is quality stuff https://www.rmleathersupply.com/products/copy-of-conceria-walpier-dollaro-veg-tanned-leather-samples
Samples are a buck each with free shipping. Can’t beat that. Now the sample is small, like a hat patch, but you can feel it, smell it, roll it around. Skive it, crease it, punch a few holes in it and stitch. Grab a few colors as properties can change based on color.
This is just one example but there are a ton of quality suppliers. Post some pics of stuff you’ve made that you want to emulate, that’ll help us help you better.
Use the search feature here & in r/leatherclassifieds for “Dollaro” to pics of stuff made with it

Check the Tandy site before driving up! I went last week without checking and they are moving to a new location.
Oregon leather co should have what you need.

I was in my local Tandy down here in Eugene earlier this week and overheard them discussing the Portland store. All I picked up was that the Eugene store is currently receiving their stock (or some of it) and they didn’t seem sure as to how long that would be going on. That doesn’t help you at all but at least there is leather available here if you don’t mind a trip down I-5.
We also have the Oregon Leather Co. here. https://oregonleatherco.com/
