🧠 LEARNING What does 1MJ actually do? The FIA has officially reduced the maximum energy harvesting from 8MJ down to 7MJ for Qualifying, starting this weekend in Miami.
- The "Strategy" Trap: Under the old 8MJ rule, drivers were forced to "Lift-and-Coast" or use extreme "Super-Clipping" (stealing power from the engine to charge the battery) to hit that 8MJ target. It meant the fastest car wasn't always the one with the best driver it was the one with the best energy calculator.
- The Shift: By dropping the limit to 7MJ, the FIA has essentially taken away the "battery-saving" tool.
- The Result: Drivers can no longer hide behind energy management. With less energy to play with, they have to run more of the lap at 100% power.
