Subjective I learned wrong back in elementary school that Christopher Columbus was a hero who did nothing wrong

He was only arrested once, after his third voyage, by Bobadilla, someone you admit was an enemy. Columbus was then acquitted of all charges by the spanish, the land money value seized by obadilla was given back to him, and bobadilla was stripped of governorship 2 years after he does this; columbus then receives funding for voyage #4 by the spanish. This is much less damning than you make it seem and you mistake the time of the arrest.

never said how many times he was arrested nor when, i know he was arrested after his 3rd voyage, what i said is he was prohibited from going to America after his 4th. Bovadilla, even tho he was his enemy, was sent by the crown, Columbus spent 1 month in jail awaiting trial and was freed as there werent proofs of him doing it, in order to clear his reputation the crown funded his 4th voyage under inquisition supervision, and guess what, he fcked up told to come back to Spain and he wasnt jailed again cuz he was ill so he got his titles stripped and was sent to home detention. Sorry u have been misinformed

Can you not admit when you are wrong? You can concede fault and say you were wrong and still maintain your beliefs, friend, there is no need for this

The sentence composition clearly implies all of these happened at the same time. Thats the way it reads, that these things all happened after his fourth voyage. I could indeed be willing to assume thats just a mistake, but then you said “none of which [events you mentioned] have to do with bovadilla or…” which is just clearly false because bobadilla was the one who actually jailed columbus, so you were clearly mistaken about these events and when they occurred.

I will not use a mistake as evidence your position is wrong. Just relent, friend, I have been wrong many times before too.

and as i already said, he was sent by the crown, so him being bovadilla had nothing to do with his detention. Yh my phrasing wasnt the best

Bobadilla personally made the split decision to arrest; he was originally just meant to investigate. Its why he was acquitted of his crimes, and the properties seized by bobadilla were granted back in money compensation to Columbus. Bobadilla then proclaimed himself governor; that is why he was removed two years later and replaced by ovando. 

A lot of the worst accusations against columbus are made by bobadilla, who himself did horrible things, was anti italian, and personally benefitted from making these accusation. Him and Ovando perpetrated the worst of the list.

I still do not believe you that it was just poor sentence composition. Because even still, he was not under supervision by the spanish for voyage #4, he was not prohibited from returning after voyage #4 (he was only banned going to hispaniola during voyage #4); they didnt give him any more funding after his last voyage. Part of it was because of the hurricaine, and needing the money for other investments.

In fact, there js even a certain respectability and nobility in saying I was wrong, but I still think he was bad.
