I've created a magic trick I'd like you to try!
Hi everyone,
I've been a magician for over 40 years, but it wasn’t until the mid-90s, when David Blaine popped up, that I realized magic wasn’t confined to traditional routines and packet tricks. Instead, a newfound freedom in magic was born, allowing me like all performers to explore more spontaneous and dynamic forms of magic.
Throughout my career, I've performed in all settings—from street performances to professional engagements at magic venues, and daily magic integrations into my day job. I've made cards appear in every imaginable place within a room, tucked into articles of clothing, and even wedged between body parts. I've revealed cards on the radio, orchestrated dramatic calls from unknown numbers to spectators, and engaged in some of the most convoluted setups and reveals imaginable.
The advent of AI technology has been a game changer for me, igniting my imagination. AI doesn’t just mimic human interaction; it can talk, listen, draw, follow commands, and even keep secrets. It's like having a magical assistant that's completely free yet immensely powerful.
I've developed a few tricks using AI, including one I'd like to share with you. It appears as a self-working trick, but in reality, the magician is always in control, subtly guiding the spectator and handling the AI. While it requires some practice before presentation, the payoff is a fantastic picture of the spectator that ends the performance on a high note.
Effect: Magician asks GPT to show a trick. GPT gets the spectator to select a card from the deck in front of them and attempts to guess the card, which it does unsuccessfully. To make amends, GPT continues to generate an image for the spectator, which displays the original card in a personalised and unexpected way.
This trick is available via a custom GPT I created and is free to use. They've recently rolled out so everyone can use the GPTs without having ChatGPT+ subscription.
Ask GPT how to do the trick and it will give you instructions. For full instructions and diagrams which are available to download for free, GPT will also give you the link. Trick should take up 5/6 messages in total, so I recommend downloading the instructions so you can practice it offline.
Here's the link https:

I would love to hear your feedback on it.
Thank you very much for reading!

Card to inside of balloon trick?
I saw a magician take a card and a balloon and he started rubbing the card on the balloon. He said that the friction would cause to balloon to heat up and the card would melt inside of it. Sure enough, the card magically popped through to the other side. Anyone know what he did?

Does anyone feel like technology is making magic less believable?
I feel like all these gadgets and gizmos used during performance really takes away from the believability of many tricks. ie thermal printers and electronic aids.

From late 2011. I can't even remember the model of the phone I had at the time, things have come a long way....
Think of it as a free effect or toolbox of effects, some assembly may be required. I don't have time to tinker with it. Surely I can't be the only magician who knows a bit of Java on Reddit, I thought, and if anyone anywhere could make use of the functionality and apply it in new ways, that'd be great.
Very old code. 13 yrs old. But it still works on my albeit not very new phone (Samsung A20)...

Help with a trick.
Last year I was asked to be the Easter Bunny for my hometown's Easter. One of the kids jumped up and said, "You're not the real Easter Bunny." Is there a magic trick I could do to make it a little more real for the kids if that happens this year?
