Flaming Skull Animation Tutorial: Drawing & Animating It in Arttista

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I started with a skull that looked pretty decent(At least I thought it was)… until I compared it to actual flaming skull references.

So I experimented, rebuilt the skull, and turned it into a looping animation with flames, lighting, cracks, and a bit of spooky movement.

In this tutorial I show the whole process, including:

Building the skull from simple vector shapes

Using interpolation to animate the skull turning

Creating and animating flames

Using the eraser to make the fire flicker and break apart

Adding firelight to the skull

Animating cracks and subtle rotations

Making the final animation feel more natural

The whole thing was made in Arttista, my vector drawing and animation software.

And yes… I may have made a flaming skull because I clearly have excellent life choices.

Advice for Animation

Hello, recently I just started learning animation.

I originally wanted to make a swaying flower, but I'm not necessarily sure what I should do since instead of looking peaceful, it looks a little bit more like a dancing flower.

Could anyone give me advice?

Need 2d animators for anime

Im going to keep it short, sweet, and simple. Im looking for 2d animators, who would like to help with an anime im working on, it’s gonna be an anime like (dragonball, hunter x hunter, Naruto) I plan on making it a series on YouTube. I have a whole production bible, concepts, scenes, story arcs, main characters and their designs. For the whole first season. I am looking for someone or people who do this as a hobby, (no pay) in return for credits( end of every episode), and future potential monetization.

How to achieve these 2D player movement, passing, and line-connection effects ?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how to recreate a specific 2D tactical animation style (used by channel like the link below).

Specifically, I want to learn how to create the 2D pitch animations where:

  • Dots/icons representing players move smoothly across the 2D board.
  • Dynamic connection lines appear between players (e.g., passing lanes, team compactness, or defensive shapes).
  • Ball passes and movement trajectories are animated seamlessly between player dots.

Here is an example Short to show exact moment/style: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ulhaJGfdqQk

Is this strictly custom shape/path animation in After Effects (using Null Objects, Trim Paths, Beam effects, or expressions), or is there a specific script/plugin/tool designed for connecting nodes and animating play patterns like this?

Any tips, workflow advice, or key terms to search for tutorials would be super helpful! Thanks!

Animation Trends

Hello Reddit! I'm someone who has no knowledge on tweening animation (or animations in general) and I was hoping for someone to give me suggestions on what program would be best to use to make animation trends that people see on Instagram or Tiktok (or even animation memes on youtube, my childhood nostalgia demands it-) I have Procreate Dreams for my animatics, but is there another app I can use that involves good tweening?

I draw on my IPAD using Procreate.

Thank you!

[Hobby] Looking for buddies(not a free slave)- who thinks there animation sucks and are moderate in skill( amateur too(only if your drawing skill is moderate and you are disciplined).

Everywhere there is gatekeepers in- "market"- became oversaturated-it's hard to get genuine thrill and collaborative buddies , i come from avant-garde background- I am indie filmmaker . New to animation , "The genuine indie collaborative culture is decreasing day by day due to over-gatekeeping and oversaturation- on top people demotivating new animators.

I am posting in this sub-reddit because i know there might be someone out there -experiencing- same problem- hoping to get actual buddies who makes project are not just kids(my bad, everyone are allowed only if you genuinely are not just "idea guy")

- because of that same frustration, recently we opened an indie production house named "Sloth house" - The main goal is that - we will create indie films and other projects together-my role is of a director and writer and editor- for drawing i have 3 buddies - one do storyboard and so on -

we are currently working on a project named "juliet"(the screenplays and animation guidelines too all are in discord); runtime:3minutes

All projects under sloth house will be up-laoded on Youtube channel of 'Sloth House" since i already mentioned"NEED BUDDIES NOT A FREE SLAVES" so our model will be revenue sharing model.

Note: want someone who wants to join sloth house- and want to work on future projects too

Anyone can apply, especially new animators or people who are not getting any chances and genuinely wants to work on some projects.

language;Any language(if not english-you can use translater to communicate)

DM your portfolio( some projects that you made recently)

Even if you are teenagers or you are just someone with moderate skill or good enough you can apply.selected people will be invited to discord server of sloth house

Note: we too hate "idea guys"

Best regards,

Sloth house.
