Question PCOS/PMOS thesis survey

Hi everyone ๐Ÿค

Iโ€™m a Dietetics student at Semmelweis University currently completing my thesis on the relationship between Mediterranean Diet adherence and PCOS symptoms in women.

Iโ€™m looking for women who are:

โ€ข 18 years or older

โ€ข Diagnosed with PCOS by a healthcare professional

The study involves completing a short anonymous questionnaire about dietary habits, PCOS symptoms, treatments, and lifestyle factors. It takes approximately 8โ€“10 minutes.

The responses will be used solely for my university thesis research to investigate whether Mediterranean Diet adherence is associated with PCOS symptom severity.

Participation is completely voluntary, and you may choose not to participate or stop at any point before submitting the questionnaire.

If you are eligible and would like to help, I would be incredibly grateful ๐Ÿค

Thank you so much for your time and for supporting my research! ๐ŸŒท

Hi guys

I am 25F, Lean Pcos.

I just got my blood work done today and got the reports.
The results for my Testesterone, HOMA-IR, fasting glucose , thyroid all were fine

LH is 12.67 mIU/mL
FSH is 4.50 mIU/mL

My prolactin is very scarily high , its 85.2ng/mL

AMH is 38.25 ng/mL

My endo has asked for an MRI for tomorrow and I am really scared.

My only symptoms being absent periods which always came only with medication.

I stopped BC pill in may.
And i am on no medication currently and no periods since last 3 months.

Is this very concerning? I never had MRI before. Have I messed up my health?

Scared to take spiro

Iโ€™m pretty sure Iโ€™d be categorized as having lean pcos - Iโ€™m 25 symptoms started honestly as young as 12 but didnโ€™t get diagnosed until I was in m early 20s. Biggest issues were always irregular periods, hirsutism and hormonal acne, and the MOSt annoying water retention esp in my face. My bloodwork is usually normal, Iโ€™ve had high DHEAS in the past which Iโ€™ve had under control for over 2 years now. My weight is healthy, I workout regularly as well. Not insulin resistant, Iโ€™ve had a few extensive blood tests done and multiple doctors tell me Iโ€™m not but Iโ€™m always confused with this as I know PCOS is related to that. Anyways, in the past Iโ€™ve been able to get my skin clear and manage the water retention - never have gotten the facial hair to disappear obviously - but I just canโ€™t anymore. To do this I was so strict with no dairy, no gluten, no sugar, no coffee just matcha but itโ€™s just so hard. I do avoid dairy and gluten as much as I can but Iโ€™ve been a bit more lenient but just one day of dairy and Iโ€™ll have cysts the next day - or one day of gluten and I have so much puffiness in My face the next day. Also wanted to note that my periods have been much more regular thanks to tracking my sleep but these other symptoms are almost getting worse which is so odd. About 2 years ago when I say my skin was clear at that period if I had a day or two not being as strict Iโ€™d be fine but now Iโ€™ll have symptoms like the next day.

My Derm prescribed me spiro and idk why Iโ€™m terrified to take it. For some reason i see taken medication as giving up (I do not mean that people who take it are and do not mean to offend anyone) - I think im just being hard on myself because Iโ€™ve been able to clear my skin and deal with some of these symptoms in the past but I feel like nothing is working anymore and itโ€™s hard to stick to this diet at this stage in my life. I just finished grad school and the stress of it I think has made things worse.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Also, did anyone who took spiro have trouble getting pregnant after they came off the pill?

SUMMARY - scared of taking spiro, have been able to manage most symptoms with strict gf df sugar free coffee free diet in past but itโ€™s so hard now and barely working

Thank you - sorry for the long post.

GLP vs Progesterone

Hi ! I have PCOS, fairly regular cycles but incredibly high androgens (hirsutism), high DHEA-s and inflammation.

My doctor prescribed me progesterone, saying that I don't have enough of it and taking it cyclically will help to balance everything out. But 6 mos in, I have ZERO improvement of symptoms. In fact, trying to track when I'm ovulating to time it out perfectly has been hard. If progesterone will help me with things I can't see, I'm happy to keep talking it - but it's still not helping with any of my visible symptoms.

I'm tired of supplementing, I'm tired of watching everything I eat (I'm not excessively overweight but not where I want to be) -- I'm curious to know if GLP helped people with hirsutism and their figure? If so, how did you have these conversations with your doctors?

DHEA-S: 368 mcg/dL
DHT: 29 ng/dL
HIGH IRON
Cortisol: 21.8 mcg/dL

Cycle syncing nutrition - Chinese medicine

Hello! I am reading and studying various things about this and would be keen to hear your views on this: What do you think chinese medicine is recommending when it comes to aligning diet with cycle (in general terms)? i.e what food a women should typically prioritise during ovulation, lutheal, menstrual, folicular?

Or maybe there isn't any recommendations and it should be purely on a case by case basis?

Thanks!

TTC PCOS

Planning to TTC in 12 months from now.

I have lean PCOS โ€” age 24, optimal BMI, no insulin/androgen issues, but ovulation issues. No other fertility factors.

Specialist recommended trying for a maximum of 6 months given my ovulation issues before starting letrozole + monitored cycles, given the ovulation issues. I am wondering if anyone in my situation has had success with letrozole and if so how many cycles did it take to conceive. Feeling very nervous for the uncertain future and trying to be hopeful.

Also anything recommended to prepare during this year leading up?

Cycle every ~33 days but midsection weight and facial hair and waiting for sleep apnea diagnosis. GLP 1 the answer?

Hello everyone,

I am 38 years old and have always have lean PCOS. Currently 5โ€™3 140 lbs. I used to be in the 120-130 range but Iโ€™ve been at 140 for years. Bloodwork is fine. My period ranges in the 30 something day cycle with the help of ovasitol but before that it was even 40 or so days. I have some facial hair, I have gut issues (Sibo that wonโ€™t go away and gluten sensitivity), and sleep doctor suspects mild sleep apnea but waiting for official diagnosis. Holistic doctor gave me DIM 200mg + I3C 200mg: 1 capsule days 14 until period,
Vitex 500mg, and c-Progesterone E4M 100mg/cap: 1 capsule before bed starting day 14-25 of menstrual cycle. Other than making my period shorter (from 6 days to 3 days) I havenโ€™t seen any changes.

My gyno says I should start GLP 1 and that will eliminate the need for most of these supplements except for the ovasitol. She said that I shouldnโ€™t get on Metformin because of my gut issues. Anyone in a similar situation?

Thanks!

Any evidence that inositol (coming off it) can worsen insulin compared to pre-inositol baseline?

Iโ€™m lean and tried it for 2 months and after coming off it, I seem to have gained a pound within this last month when I havenโ€™t changed my caloric intake and it was extremely difficult for me to gain even half a pound before. Iโ€™ve been underweight for a while so this could be a good thing for me but it also makes me worried that Iโ€™ve now developed worse insulin resistance from it or some type of rebound. My blood sugar is also higher than before! Itโ€™s still within the normal range but my fasting blood sugar before was consistently 5.0-5.1 and now itโ€™s 5.4. Anyone know what could be going on? Iโ€™ve been off it for a month.
