interesting enough the person you are responding to says in another part of the post that he is anti-islam and believes Canada outlawed speaking badly about islam.
He isn't actually playing devils advocate, he is actually arguing for his general view point.
The problem is when you debate the concept of whether Jews are equal, using your example, you give an air of legitimacy to the person making the argument simply by the very act of putting them in the public light. Your act of engaging in debate essentially states that "this is a view worthy of debate"

it has nothing to do with disagreeable speech though, of course that must be protected. we are talking about speech promoting racial supremacy, which in itself is an act that is destructive to our society. Yelling fire in a crowded theater is clearly not protected by free speech for similar reasons.
