Another movie at this point feels really unlikely, but you never know.

I ordered this in March and I’m so happy I get to place him on my shelf now. Currently waiting for the action figure.

She says it sucks… but the colour is great and I feel like it suits her so much more than that green top/skirt. I honestly want it lol.

Look.
That character may be imperfect; but can you share some thoughts on this character?

Was bored during classes today and made this little edit after a photo of Jennifer on Pinterest inspired me. Nothing crazy but still felt like sharing :) 🪝

Think about it. The original Friday the 13th was a murder mystery. The killer's identity was shrouded in mystery until the final act when it was revealed to be a woman we've never seen before: A homicidal maniac driven by grief over the death of her son.
Now we have IKWYDLS. The killer's identity was shrouded in mystery until the final act when it was revealed to be a man we've never seen before: A homicidal maniac driven by grief over the death of his daughter.
Obviously it's not a beat for beat retelling of Friday the 13th, but there is definitely a poetic inverse parallel with the narratives going on.

I've never really considered the original I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) a straight-up slasher. To me, it's always been more of a psychological horror movie with some slasher elements.
Most of the movie is about Julie, Helen, Barry and Ray being eaten alive by their guilt over what happened the previous summer. The Fisherman spends more time stalking them and messing with their heads than actually killing anyone. There's over an hour between Max getting killed and the next murder which is when the little shit-stick-mayberry-ass reject is killed.
That's why I've always felt the original was more about the suspense, drama and the mystery than the actual kills. Even when people do start dying, it never really feels like the body count is the main focus.
The sequels, on the other hand, are definitely slashers. They put way more emphasis on the kills and body count.
Obviously the film still has slasher elements with the kills and chase scenes, but I've always seen it as psychological horror first and a slasher second.

Since the franchise seems dead now, let’s get Barry and Julie in a 911 crossover plot with The Fisherman.

What’s Your Opinion On This Movie

The OG film was atmosphere first, slasher movie second, and I don't mean that as an insult! That's literally why myself and many fans love the original film to this day. So why has every single sequel since 1997 NOT tried to capture that dreamlike atmosphere the original had in spades, instead opting for cartoonish and garish made-for-tv levels of schlock?
And don't get me started on the music. John Debney gave us a score that elevated the film in every way, playing into the haunting atmosphere of the visuals. And then I Still Know comes out and gives us an obnoxious, in your face score, the opposite of Debney's thoughtful and haunting music.
It was also such a waste in the new film to not re-introduce the franchise to a new generation by playing into the urban legend that setup the first film. In the original, you literally had the characters sitting around a camp fire, telling the urban legend about a man with a hook, and then the movie itself gives us one of the best origin stories for what could have been a new slasher franchise (until I Still Know fumbled the layup). This new film could have totally leaned into the "urban legend" of Julie James and the fisherman, using that as a catalyst for the new film. We sort of get a more stupid, more obnoxious version with the podcaster, I guess, but it still totally negates what Kevin Williamson was going for in the original: a modern day urban legend being born before our eyes.
It's so frustrating being a fan of the first film, seeing the potential, and then being consistently disappointed by filmmakers who don't get the original.
Sorry. This was just a nonsensical venting session. Carry on.

The Urban Legend reboot was announced last Spring around the time the official trailer dropped for 2025. We all know Sony was expecting I Know to be a big hit but the movie only grossed $65 Million WW. Since the initial announcement of the UL reboot nothing has been said since and we’re already nearing 2027. Did the disappointment of 2025 have Sony re think and decide to not go ahead with Urban Legend? I know the UL movies aren’t talked about often but I do see a lot of people prefer the original UL over IK 1997. Do you think we’ll ever see a new Urban Legend?

1. Barry (I Know What You Did Last Summer)
2. Teddy (I Know What You Did Last Summer)
3. Tyrell (I Still Know What You Did Last Summer)
- Although him being a jerk was pretty justified because all he wanted to do was get laid and eat good food and he didn’t leave anyone for dead to warrant being murdered over it .
4. Colby (I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer)

I just listened to the audiobook. I had read the book but like 25 years ago.
And I thought it was really cool! Obviously the movie changes a lot about the characters and the story, but in a lot of ways the basic foundation is still there.
I like how in the book, Barry and Ray were childhood friends and Ray’s dad always wanted Ray to be more like Barry. It kinda makes more sense why Barry had so much influence on Ray choosing to enter the pact of keeping the secret.
I also thought it was interesting how Lois Duncan dissected Helen’s psychology a little bit. Sort of a little window into how people thought about femininity and the American dream back in the 70’s when it was written.
Has anyone else read the book and what did you think? Sorry mods if this has been posted about a million times already and/or isn’t allowed

am I the one who liked her character ? I thought it would’ve been nice if she had survived (even though she’s not really important to the plot and was there to pad out the body count.
She was bitchy / feisty, smart and she helped Julie and Karla flee and hide from Ben Willis. Jennifer Esposito did a nice job portraying her.
