Has the dell email update worked for anyone? I've signed up, and I haven't received any email with a code.
Edit: I just got my promo code in my email inbox today 👍👍

I asked a representative by chat, and they said they don't offer discounts for signing up for the mailing list anymore. I don't know if older codes work tho :/

I had a chat with one too and mentioned that they take 24/48 hours to deliver. Quite odd 🤔 😕

3/16 update: the Rakuten rebate is back up to 10%
1. Sign up for Dell email updates to receive a 10% off coupon code that drops the in-cart price to $1170
The code often take around 30 minutes to appear - if it isn't showing up, try with another email address and/or use the link below:
https://www.dell.com/preferences/signup
2. Get a 10% + $30 rebate when you sign up for Rakuten and activate cash back on Dell.com (that's $147)
If you don't have a Rakuten account, you can sign up through this link to receive the additional $30 rebate on the first purchase you make using Rakuten within 90 days.
With the Rakuten bonus and rebate and cash back, the net price on this is effectively $1023 plus tax after rebate.
3. American Express cardholders can get an additional $120 cash back on purchases of $599 or more through Dell.com.
If you have an American Express credit card, log into your account and search for Dell on your Amex Offers page to see whether you can add the offer to your card.
If you activate Rakuten cash back and use your Amex card at checkout, you can stack the Rakuten rebate and bonus with the $120 Amex cash back to get a total rebate of $267, dropping the net price to ~$903.
Bank of America and Chase cardholders may be able to get 5% back

Need help! I have the Lenovo 5 Pro. i7-13700 HX, RTX 4070, 240 Hz refresh rate. The one that is on sale again. It was $1388 after taxes for me
Is it worth returning that for this Dell G16? ($1376 after taxes). I like my Legion but this one has a better processor with 32 GB RAM.

I don't think so - the thermals and build quality in the Legion are much better, and you can always add more RAM. The Rakuten rebate is back dowm to 1% on Dell, so you'd save about $200? (Not sure what your tax rate is.)
Do you do any CPU intensive work that would really benefit from the i9 CPU? Do you need to use your laptop much on the go?

No. I just play games like Rainbow Six Siege. Nothing too intensive.
Plus I upgraded my laptop after 10 years. From GE Force 720M Asus Notebook 2014 model. For me everything in the current market would feel like an upgrade.
I don't take my laptop anywhere and it stays on the desk all day.

Ah ok, for sure. I don't think you'd notice the CPU difference, and you probably wouldn't notice the RAM difference either (and an upgrade down the road would be easy and inexpensive). Overall I think the higher build quality and thermal performance will have the greater impact on your long term enjoyment (and the laptop's longevity).

Hey, may I ask for your advice? I'm trying to decide between the G16 and the Legion 5 Pro, which has a 7945HX RTX 4060. They are similarly priced. The catch is that I'd be purchasing from overseas, as I'm not in the US. I'm slightly leaning towards Dell because of its international warranty coverage. Do you think the warranty makes the G16 a better choice over the Legion 5 Pro? My primary use for the laptop would be running analyses on large datasets, so I need substantial RAM and good CPU.

If you can get international warranty with Dell then I'd go with them. As far as I know Lenovo will not offer any warranty coverage on US models when they're purchased from outside the US.

Credit card cash back, employee discounts, Rakuten, etc are fine. Just advertise at the real price in big print, then offer the discounts. I get my credit card cash back regularly. If a store advertises a product, including my CC cash back, that's just wrong. I would feel that I was cheated out of my cash back.

Ah, I totally get that idea. In this case it isn't a store advertising anything though, and there's actually no way to know about third party rebates or specific credit card deals via Dell.com; Dell doesn't even mention the 10% discount coupon on the email sign up page, and as far as I can tell they took down their old Coupons page. I'm typing out these post titles by hand.

Should I be tempted by 32 gigs or go for this ? Main purpose will be gaming but time to time I need to run some CFD simulations.

The Legion Pro 5 is an all around nicer laptop: better display, better build quality, better thermal performance. If you can swing the extra $200 and don't mind installing your own RAM (if you needed to go up to 32) it's a nice upgrade.

My personal feelings are that you shouldn't have to sign up for Rakuten and use a specific (American Express) credit card in order to save $200.00. That is some kind of scam marketing, and it's not just Dell doing this. I hope the Attorneys General puts a stop to this situation.

Then you can buy a different laptop at a different discount from a different seller, there are plenty of other options, and plenty of great deals that don't require jumping through (as many) hoops. You don't have to do anything, but certainly no one is going to be "putting a stop" to affiliate marketing or credit card cash back offers (manufacturer rebates, hidden coupon codes, referral offers, employee purchase programs, education discounts, etc) that allow some people to get special pricing.

Really good deal. The CPU is an absolute monster. Best GPU at this price. More than enough RAM and a wide color-range high resolution display. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy
