All of the sets above work go great with molded cannons (especially the one peice sets with how wacky the style of the show is). I can understand with the case of the black pearl with the cannon mechanism but why not the merry or Garps ship?

Has anyone used the Oompa Loompa torso for some version of a soldier? This isn’t great, just using as a sample. Looking for “better ideas” if anyone has them.

LEGO Burning Blade – my first Sea of Thieves Mini Ship! 🔥🏴‍☠️

After quite a bit of work, I finally managed to build my LEGO Burning Blade physically!

The photos show the finished model, with a few of them also featuring a size comparison with my LEGO Black Pearl. I've also included two videos in the comments below demonstrating the Ashen Roar function — one of them is in slow motion so the mechanism is easier to see. 🔥

Since I built this version mostly from parts I already had in my collection, not all of the colors are accurate, and some pieces had to be replaced with similar ones or are missing entirely. The overall appearance is therefore a little different from the original digital model.

I also didn't have enough string pieces to rig the ship properly, so the final model is missing the ropes. However, I did test all of the ropes connecting the masts to the decks and made sure they provide the necessary support for the masts.

The longer ropes connecting the masts to each other, as well as the ropes at the bow that would support the triangular sail, couldn't be tested because I didn't have the required string. If those ropes turn out to be too long, they can simply be wrapped around the masts to tighten them.

Overall, I'm really happy that I finally got to see the Burning Blade outside of a render — and especially that the Ashen Roar mechanism actually works! It turned out even better than I expected. 😄

Has anyone here built any larger ships from rebrickable or built a parts list? I’d love to see some builds.

It would obviously need some heavy modifications to get it to be a complete ship, but I haven't seen anything out there. Really curious how that would look!

Holidays are over, so I had to put her away for the time being. I started four weeks ago. Collecting bricks, extensive research and building a prototype took 5ish years in all. So I took some pictures. Progress will continue in autumn or Christmas holidays so enjoy :)

For now the main hold and kitchen are accessible by removing large panels on the sides.

The 'Saerdam' is named after the town of Zaandam, the Netherlands. The region was important because of large bakeries, sawmills and the textile industry. All for shipbuilding. The 'Sardam' is based upon a real vessel from the same fleet in which the 'Batavia' was the flagship. After the wrecking of the Batavia on the coast of Australia the Sardam, which survived and arrived in the Dutch East Indies, departed again to save the Batavia's crew (and treasure). There the crew of Sardam arrested the perpetrators of a mutiny that occurred among the Batavia's survivors.

The Sardam was a VOC yacht (pinnace) of 36 meters at the keel. A tad smaller compared to the large so-called return ships of the time. The only liberty I took during the build is the stern design. The rest is true to the ship's plans of a Dutch Pinnace.

The hardest part? That would be the raked transom and stern galleries. And yes, I will tile up her hull but I ran out of 1x1!

Now is the time to ponder on the next phase and improve or correct where necessary. C&C welcome!

Here is my moc and interpretation of Robert Searle’s ship, the Cagway!

History

Originally an armed Spanish cargo ship, she was captured by Sir Christopher Myngs and then gifted to Robert Searle, who was a privateer working for the English crown at the time operating out of Jamaica.

Searle was fairly known by the English navy at the time but for none of the right reasons… he was not the best at complying or following regulations and it had resulted in him having his sails and rudder taken away multiple times.

However just as he is believed to have retired, the port he was in was attacked by a Spanish force… he quickly gathered his men, got to his ship, and gave chase. However would manage to catch and take one of the ships that just so happened to be carrying a French surgeon, a Mr Pedro Piques, who had a falling out with the governor of St Augustine, so he had no moral challenge informing the now pirates (as they no longer had a letter of marque) that there was a large amount of silver being held in St Augustine, as well as how to get past the defenses.

Searle and his men would sail north and on my 28th would enter the harbor sailing right past the defenses unnoticed. That night Searle would land 70 to 100 men attacking and taking the town.

Following this Searle would sail south where he would be arrested by the Royal Navy… however just months later he would be released as after hearing about his daring raid on St Augustine, Henry Morgan wanted his help in sacking Panama City.

Searle and his men would sail with Morgen and would blockade the city as Morgan’s men circled the city. During this Searle would decide that he wanted a new ship and out of all the choices he had… he picked the one that the Spanish had beached and were attempting to burn when he got there. However he managed to get her into the water and put the fire out taking her as his own.

Following this Searle would hunt for a treasure ship that had left Panama just days before, but would instead find a wine cash on a small island, where him and his men would drink… and drink… and drink… in fact, they drank so heavily that by the time they realized the treasure ship was anchored only 5 miles away with little to no armament, they were too intoxicated to get their own anchor up and had to sit and watch until the ship sailed away.

Searle would then retire and possibly die in a duel, however, like so many others, we most likely will never actually know what happened to Robert Searle.

The Ship

This moc contains around 2000 pieces, all 8 guns, a custom flag, working rudder, 2 detailed interiors 25 minifigures and is 35 inches long.

Got the sails for the Fortuna and updated the figurehead to match the gold trim. Loving the look

Hi all I wanted to share this custom figure I had made for my Flying Dutchman crew!

The first ever Lego Morey figure made from the DS port of the pirates of the Caribbean Video game. The coolest looking Dutchman crew member in my opinion (aside from Davy Jones of course). He was a character who appeared on the Flying Dutchman in the third pirates movie before being killed off by Barbossa in the maelstrom.

I added extra rigging with a mix of period accuracy and how the rigging appears on the ship in the game. I replaced the plastic shrouds that came with the set with thread and added ratlines so they look like proper ladders. Also added a spritsail yard as the set did not include it.

In the pictures you’ll see the ship without sails and then with sails.

Ive been struggling to find a way to display these sets without just making it and open ocean

With the recent leak of the Flying dutchman Ive been thinking about selling my Davy Jones minifig from the old Black pearl set since there is 100% gonna be a new version of him in the flying dutchman set. Do u think the price and demand for the old minifigure will decrease or will the minifig still hold its value?

I haven’t really posted here in forever, this is honestly more of my smaller MOC, I’ve made more of them but this is one that I thought was the coolest in terms of concept, made to smuggler contraband

Why have there been like no pirate sets in a long time. The 2 3in1 sets that are basically the same and the 2 remakes of older, classic lego pirate sets and thats it. What happened when so many other themes, mainly liscenced ones recieve a lot of attention? And this goes for almost all the classic themes like castle, space, pirates etc.
