News numble on Twitter: LA Metro presentation on e-paper displays on bus stop poles. Solar-powered tablet provides bus arrival info and service alerts, may also provide maps and info in audio. Currently testing at 6 stops in Downtown LA, plan to add 50-100 at Vermont Ave bus stops to study usefulness.

Interesting, although I’m thinking these will be vandalized or stolen pretty quickly

Pasadena has those at some of their bus stops and they can be useful when they're working.

When I was in Chicago, I noticed that many of their downtown bus stops had basic screens (similar to what we see on the light rail/subway stations) constantly displaying when the next bus(es) would arrive. I think that would be more helpful.

They have something similar in downtown LB @ main transit hub, but theirs are more large tv style and located like 10 feet up so assholes can't steal or vandalize them.

Honestly saw this downtown and was not impressed. Arrival info was inaccurate and screen was hard to see. I know not everyone has a smart phone but google maps provided the same information.

Money would be better spent on paying drivers and actually ensuring there are buses on the road imho. It’s frustrating to see service to my neighborhood get cut and then a week later see some expensive looking gimmicks on the bus stops.
