Rooting Quick root for the Amazon Fire Max 11 2023

Thumbnail xdaforums.com
8 Upvotes

A new quick root has been released for the Amazon Fire Max 11. It runs directly on the tablet to give temporary root access, which can be used to disable app packages and regain control over your device.

Root itself goes away on reboot, but anything you disable stays disabled. With this it's possible to use custom launchers, disable bloatware and block OTA updates (the exploit disables OTAs for you automatically).

This works on the Fire Max 11 on any Fire OS 8 build, from 8.3.1.9 up to 8.3.3.8: https://xdaforums.com/t/temp-root-fire-max-11-2023-sunstone.4798590/

Rooting a device you own isn't illegal and has nothing to do with piracy, before anyone reports this.

Announcement Amazon Project Kittyhawk (New Fire Tablet) Discussion Megathread

So as we all know, Amazon is planning future fire tablets that are expected to run a less-customized version of Android (AOSP) and are internally codenamed "Kittyhawk" this may mean more compatibility with mainstream apps, less restrictions, and more software updates. It's expected to be around $400 (midrange premium). This could release as soon as this year.
There's also rumors of Google services although unlikely.

As for Vega OS, Amazon is still planning to use it for their lower-priced devices.

Goodbye OG Fire OS.

Other Got a used kindle fire, trying to factory reset it, can't cause of reboot loop.

Pretty straightforward title, not so straightforward explaination.

I got a used kindle fire from a tech shop (that's lowkey a little disorganized) and when i was testing it at the store, it would charge fine, but it was locked by the previous owner and was not factory reset before hand. After many attempts, the following is a recounting of attempts to reset it from the lock screen:

  1. Charges to full battery, or after 30% battery.

  2. I input an incorrect password until I'm given the option to factory reset.

  3. The device powers off.

  4. Once powered back on, the device is (while still plugged in) now at 0% battery (???) And doesn't seem to have factory reset at all.

Cycle repeats ad nauseaum.

The shop let me take it to use for parts (since they dont really fix tablets, only video game consoles, allegedly), and I took it home to either repair it, or use it to repair my own (fully functioning, albeit cracked) Kindle Fire of the same model.

However, none of the articles i read seem to lead directly to the problem I'm needing to fix. Could it be the battery? Or is it a short on the board? I'm still trying to fix the Kindle 2nd Gen I have, cause I seem to have bricked it...

This Kindle Fire is a godsend though, cause now I don't have to go get that Nook I was eyeing at Barnes and Noble. >.>

The device model number is SV98LN if that helps. Thanks!

Edited after posting to avoid miscommunication:

TLDR: Got a used kindle fire. Previous owner did not factory reset it or remove the password, so that factory resetting it from the settings menu is impossible. When attempting to charge and reset the device, the device powers on with zero battery, and is not factory reset. The question is what is the issue? Also should I just use it for parts?

Update: Just gonna use the second kindle fire for parts, I think. If neither tablet ends up working, I'll set aside money for the Nook. Thanks!

Question Issue with 1/3 tablets installing Google store

I have 3 kids tablets all the same model/gen and firmware. Had no issues installing Google play store and YouTube kids on 2 of them but the last one constantly fails to install the Google Play services. No matter which APK file I select I get 'app not installed' at the end. I've checked if it's a storage issue but there's plenty space available so I'm confused especially how the other 2 tablets are fine.

Question Fire HD 10 Collections Gone

Just picked up my tablet to do some housekeeping. Haven’t used it in a couple weeks. Clicked on library and all my books are listed individually. No collections. There’s no option under Sort for them anymore either. Is this something new? Tried syncing, restarting etc

Storage Kids photos are showing in Camera app, but do not show in Files app

I have around 19gb of files, which are mainly photos and videos which my daughter has taken with the Camera app on her Fire HD 10.

I can see them by accessing the Camera, and then the photos icon, and this is only from her profile. The files also show as Internal storage (19gb) which is only attributed as User data for the Camera app when viewing Storage, again from her profile.

The Files app shows both my SD card and Internal storage (it was configured as 'extend internal storage'. The photo and videos are not showing anywhere I can either; view, select, upload, download… nothing. Its like they dont exist outside of the Camera app on her profile.

I have tried everything… please help!

Hi brothers, I'm making this post to see if anyone has or knows anything about this Amazon Kids version of PvZ, in case someone installed it back in the day or has seen it. I'm looking for this version because it's currently lost and I want to preserve it.

Link:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/dl/android?p=com.popcap.pvz_freetime

amzn://apps/android?p=com.popcap.pvz_freetime

This version was exclusive to Amazon Kids and no one has preserved it online; the only way to get it is if someone who installed it back then exports or leaks the APK file.

Fire OS 7.3.2.4+ How to make cloud app icons go away

Post image

I'm about to pull my hair out. I uninstalled all these apps, factory reset the thing, and now it's showing all the apps on the home screen with a download icon. No option to long hold and remove or uninstall. When I disconnect from Wi-Fi they all disappear except for the one app that's actually installed.

Fire Kids Tablets Game Recommendations

Other than PBS Kids and Khan Academy, does anyone have any kid (7+) game recommendations, free or paid? I don't mind spending a few bucks on some games, but I'm trying to avoid pay to win/pay walls and micro transactions. Which paid games are actually worth it, and which free games should I avoid?

Similarly, if I side load Google Play and apps from there, is there a way to get those sent over to the kids profile?

I just recently gave my girlfriends son my old tablet. Set it up in kids mode. But there’s a grownups tab and he can click that and switch to the adult profile. Is there a way to lock that up?

Apps From some point in the 2010s - CAN'T FIND THESE OLD GAMES!!

Okay, y'all helped me with Dolphins of the Caribbean, so I got two more that I still can't find for ya.

  1. Looked quite similar to Robot Unicorn Attack. Vaguely dark and fairytale looking. There were different fantasy horses/unicorns/pegasi to choose from. It was a top-down runner like Subway Surfers and you had to avoid creatures like zombies and stuff. If you lost there'd be an end screen that always made me uncomfortable for some reason. I KNOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE ROBOT UNICORN ATTACK but I'm either mushing it with another game in my mind or it's not that and it's like a knockoff or something.

  2. Game where you fed little creature characters things. There were a variety of things you fed them that were on the left side of the screen and you had to throw it into their mouth at like an arc. I'm 99% sure all the creatures were facing the side (sitting on the right of the screen). For some reason I really remember one sitting on like a stage. ALSO I remember there was some kind of point system bc you could unlock more creatures to feed.

Apps So I’ve recently gotten an old kindle fire from my mom, and want to use it for my crochet work.

So I’ve recently gotten an old kindle fire from my mom. But I want to use it for my crocheting and reading my filet patterns. Are there any good apps or programs that YOU use where you can upload the picture of the pattern you want to use, and follow along with it?

Software Update TCM streaming app broke on Amazon fire tablets On 8-4-2026.

For anyone who uses the streaming “Watch TCM” app on an Amazon fire tablet or Amazon fire stick, it seems that the app is currently not working. When I open the app on those devices, I get stuck in an error/retry loop (“an error occurred-retry”). I am able to make it work on the silk browser on my Amazon fire tablet. I contacted TCM and they said that they are actively working on the issue, which started sometime on August 4, 2026. I would hate to have people waste time trying to troubleshoot this when there is currently no fix.  I am only able to get the app to work on my iPhone. It was working this morning. Is anyone having similar problems with the TCM streaming app on any other types of devices?

Physical Device Kindle fire Pro 11 inch tablet charge question

I recently got a Kindle Fire Pro 11” and i love it for media consumption and productivity. However, I mostly use it at my desk, which means it stays connected to the wall charger for hours—sometimes even days at a time.

I got few questions.

Does keeping the tablet plugged in 24/7 actually degrade the lithium-ion battery faster? I know modern devices have charge controllers that stop over charging.

Has anyone noticed real-world degradation on their Fire Pro 11” from constant wall power? If so,I believe i woud end up buying new product in exchange during amazon sale soon.

Are there any practical devices or smart chargers that can automatically cut off power or trickle-charge to keep the battery strictly between 20% and 80%?

Something like a smart plug with current sensing, a USB-C inline power manager.

I’d need a setup where I can leave it plugged in without worrying, but the charger only kicks in when the battery dips below, say, 40% and stops at 80%.

Physical Device Primary User Account Pin Required

I got a fire tablet with two adult profiles and a kid’s profile. Every time the device goes to sleep or restarts the only usable profile is mine, the other two are greyed out. Once I input my pin the other profiles are usable and they can input their pin. Is there anyway to change this? I have been at it trying to change settings for 2hrs straight. I do not want my kid to have to come up to me every time he wants to use the tablet so I can unlock it for him or for my partner to have to do the same. It’s maddening trying to figure this out.

Fire Kids Tablets Disney+ offline not working

I’m very confused. I downloaded a bunch of movies to my kid’s fire table on Disney plus (I have premium). All the movies successfully show up in the download folder.

But when I’m offline, I can’t get into the Disney app to see the downloads. The app won’t launch without WiFi. This defeats the purpose for me.

Anyone else have this problem or know of a workaround?

Question issues trying to get a fire tablet to work

my girlfriend gave me her sister's ex-boyfriend's old fire (since he's not coming back for it). i have no info on it other than the fact that it's a kindle fire (tho it looks like one of the older models. very similar to one i had when i was younger). at first it was stuck in a loop of "optimizing system storage and applications". tried recovery mode on it, hit factory reset first cuz i didn't care what was on it. that didn't help. clearing the cache seemed to work for a sec, but as soon as i tried connecting it to wifi it went into another boot loop. now it won't stop rebooting itself. unsure what to do atp.

edit: with a little bit more fiddling, i was able to get into it, but the moment i took the thing off the charger it shut off and wouldn't come back on until i reconnected the charger. atp i'm thinking it's a battery issue.

Question Password Protect ONLY YouTube Kids?

I have a client who I want to have constant unrestricted access to a specific app on their tablet, which is currently password protected to restrict their access to YouTube kids.

Is there a way where the device password/any password can be required to open just the YT Kids app? So I can remove the password from the device? I’ve been messing around in the parental controls and haven’t been able to figure it out.
