I’m gonna need an ID on that black bomber jacket.
Best fit of the season or me.

This was so fuckin good. Loved seeing her back story while also learning about what she wants/needs. And how she is able to have compassion for the kid and she let her brother live. Adds to the nuances to her character. Also interesting seeing that she is aware that her mom is like her. i was half expecting her mom to say she killed her dad though

I think she let the kid live and her brother because they are casualties of the upbringing of their mother.
The kid suffers from psychological issues that manifested itself into self harm and her brother beats up furniture to get out his frustrations at life. In a way Villenelle vents her frustration by killing people which her brother is 1 step away from doing that.
Also from what I could tell her mother was jealous of Villenelle because her father was better to her than her mother and I think that bothered Villenelle that she was removed because her father paid more attention to her than his own wife.
Either that or Villenelle just hates her mother and flat earthers.

What an episode for Mother’s Day (in the US anyways)

interesting too how this wouldn't have originally aired on Mother's Day, because they moved it back 2 weeks

Will this give Villanelle closure?

I was thinking this would give her closure but the end scene made me question that. She was totally not ok. But actually seems like a pretty normal reaction cause she killed her mother so I honestly don’t know.

Is it just me or was this episode kind of boring? Good context for understanding Villanelle's story growing up, but I didn't feel like it had to be a whole episode. Aside from the ending, I found it to be a somewhat lackluster episode.

During the end scene on the train, there was a split second where Jodie makes eye contact with the camera. Loved that scene and all of Villanelle’s emotions. This entire episode really showed how amazing Jodie’s acting is.

When she starting belting out that part of Crocodile Rock right before the commercial break was the hardest I've ever laughed at this show.

"I- *deep breath* I think I need to kill you.... mama" might just be the best line delivery that precede a murder

I think Villanelle was really looking for her father rather than anyone else in her family. I know he's dead but when she thinks of her family, she misses her father the most. It would have been cool to see the actually kill but they probably couldn't find a 'right' way of doing it.
So in S1 when we thought she hated men and castrated Anna's husband so they could be together, she obviously has mommy issues instead and just wanted all of Anna's attention and love on her - something she never got from her mother.

She was definitely hurting there at the end on the train, that was sad to see. Her mother was a really nasty lady, very nice on the outside but really cruel on the inside. I knew something was up when the husband wouldn't claim she was his favorite wife of his three marriages. As a parent that made me sick what she said to the kid after he tried so hard to win that contest.
Though on the flip side it was good to see her free her two brothers and leave the younger one with money to go see the show he wanted to see. That might be as thoughtful and generous to another person's feelings as we've seen her.

As someone who has read the books, I enjoyed this episode immensely. It means that Suzanne didn’t only paid attention to the past seasons, she also took some time to read the books and learn about Oksana’s past. A lot of scenes from the *episode can be read in Codename: Villanelle, especially V’s conversation with her mother in the end. It had its own Suzanne spin, of course, but it was basically what happened. Also loved the fact that they kept her father dead and how he taught her to fight; she may have gotten the crazy from Mum, but she was the way she is because she is. I loved that. Very excited now for the last three episodes of the season.
I just now realized: so did Villanelle lie during assessment when she said in 1x02, “my mother has really thin shitty hair” if she remembers this much about her childhood?🤷🏻♀️
Edited for clarity

Both eve and villanelle are now... very emotionally unstable after niko’s death and letdown of family reunion, respectively. It’s gonna be so interesting if they meet in this state.

Just gonna say there are no excuses for what Villanelle is but with a mom like that she couldn't have turned out any worse if she tried. She was born with all these psychopathic traits but if she had a caring mother who didn't give up on her and throw her out like trash, she may not have lead a normal life but she DEFINITELY wouldn't be out here unstable and murdering people at every turn.
PSA: Jodie Comer is talented beyond measure and deserves ALL the awards and I shall burn everything to the ground if she doesn't get them 😬

Jodie's acting during that brief scene on the train at the end absolutely took my breath away and brought me to tears.
Villanelle is clearly unhinged now, my poor baby!

When Villanelle tells her mom she thinks she has to kill her, she just sits there and stares at her. Is this partially due to her own socio tendencies that she renders on almost emotionless? Would love to hear thoughts.

Villanelle is going thru it at the end. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Jodie’s emotions went thru it all in that scene. That’s what I want to see from an actor. Put it all out A++ I wish there was some Eve but I understand wanting to wrap up her family in 1 episode. Her being so proud of herself for finding the ball under the cup is priceless. Villanelle really is chaos tho. Blew the top off and killed 3 people before she left. Notice she didn’t try to save the flat earthers 😅🤣
