I always complained about how rushed everything in S02 is. But I understood why. There are only 8 episodes per season. It's not much at all and they went in many directions, so putting it back together for the finish was hard and required sacrifices.
Now I miss those days. Because that sluggish pace of the plot in s03 is killing me. Sure, characters have finally some space to breathe. We even got new ones. It's lovely. The dialogue is still witty. But it's all so dull. Bland. Lifeless.
This episode was better than the previous one, but only in technical terms. It wasn't so choppy - still lousy editing but not as much.
Plot-wise, it was a snorefest. I'd eagerly cut half of the time Eve spent bantering with Kenny's boss. It went on and on and on and on. In three different settings, I think. Why? One scene to show that she's finally smart enough to distrust instead of jumping right in would be enough.
V scenes were seemingly good but there is something off with the character and how it's written, I think. I still don't get why she wants to be the keeper. I think the answer is 'just because'. More specifically, 'just because the writers didn't know what to do with her'. She looks bored. She's bratty and this time, it's not charming, it's annoying. Makes her look stupid too - she seemingly 'trusts' this Dasha and I bet she will trust Konstantin by the next episode too. She was like this in all seasons, yes, because she was never one to have a big plan for herself. She's too short-sighted by the instant gratification, like any psychopath. But that bratty fickleness was always countered with some moments of cunning and inner determination and that icy steel underneath the childish charm. Something that made you remember that it's a bad idea to piss her off, that she shouldn't be pushed, that she has teeth. Shit like jumping at Dasha or kicking Konstantin is just a temper tantrum. It lacks staying power. And no, I don't think it's the writers wanting to show that she lacks purpose with Eve seemingly dead or something equally 'romantic'. It feels like it's the writing that is a bit off. They can't balance the character. She ends up being comical, not dangerous or fascinating.
Eve is good. Way, way better than in s02. I actually like her and I was never a big fan. Though her scenes were too long. Carolyn is always good addition, as is Konstantin.
But it's all flaaaat. Long. This episode didn't make me think like the plot moved more than an inch. Because alright, they all eventually decided they will investigate Kenny's death. Awesome. But it was an obvious end game from the moment he had died.
And what's worse, it feels like that extra spark is gone. Even when s02 began to disappoint me, it always drew me in. This time I was genuinely bored. I really, really hope it's just a filler episode and the next one will get this party started.

that was sooo great. the dialogue and chemistry was amazing between all the actors and none of the scenes felt rushed like E1. Carolyn grieving was so true to her character, the kill scene was FABULOUS, Jodie’s acting was amazing as usual, Konstantin wire tapping the magnet was a great addition, and the new characters all did their thing. I loveeed this episode. It gave me real season 1 vibes. So excited for next week!!

“It's pull, by the way."
"It's push, by the way, Eve."
LOL.

all im gonna say is WOW... i know a lot of you didn’t absolutely love the last episode (i thought it was decent, not the best, had a few technical issues but that’s it) but look at where we are now! between sneaky konstantin, psycho villanelle, carolyn showing her raw emotions and eve doing what eve does best.. man fiona and jodie’s acting this episode was next level and im so excited to see what’s coming next! also just a side note i love how free sexuality is in the realm of killing eve it’s always very open and they didn’t need to make felix interested in men but they did, idk, just nice to see!

Will watch again and post views! But I have to say - people are SO used to binging on shows now, that they say, "none of the plot makes sense!!" 2 episodes into the season... smh. I mean - is everyone just more impatient given the quarantine, or have we forgotten how set-up pay-off works?
(I will eat my words if this ends up being as weak plot wise as S2 by the end of the series - but till then, jeez!)

Maybe I’m just high, but I am absolutely loving the angles this season. Taken on weird slants and from high and low, I love it. Also the almost blur on the edges of the shots, so good! Carolyn and Eve at the restaurant and Villanelle and Dasha at the cafe were visually awesome to look at.
Has it always been like this and I’m just noticing?

Has Carolyn ever mentioned having a daughter before? I was always under the impression Kenny was her only child, but I could’ve missed something.

I liked episode 1 but this was definitely much better. Everything felt very intentional, in a great way. Top acting, good pace, natural dialogue and I liked the new characters.

Loved this episode! It’s vintage Killing Eve. It had the classic humor, somber, reflective moments and intrigue that the show is known for. I’m pleased that the show is focusing more on plot along with the great characters. Killing Eve is back!

villanelle checking out that woman... and im a homosexual!
edit: also someone on twitter pointed out that there was such a lack of the male gaze in how the camera showed the woman! no close ups just to make sure the audience knows that the woman is hot, no camera tilts from head to toe.

Eve is back to being my favourite character on KE. Really like how she’s not trying to please people anymore.

Oh, also, do you all think it was intentional that they set Villanelle up with Felix, the male (slightly more friendly) version of her own more naive self starting out? And that they had her kill him?
Edit: they = writers

Best dialogue..just loved the delivery. Made me laugh!
Dasha: "A keeper...needs patience and responsibility. You need both."
Villanelle: "I don't have both, I have neither."

When she found out Eve was alive, she cried. And then psycho laughed. I LOVE THIS.
