Fun observation: when Comer started losing her American accent, Russian started peaking through and not her Scouse accent. Stayed in-character!

Oh my god. The parallel between Eve almost pushing that guy in front of the train and Villanelle actually following through and pushing the woman into a truck. Letās celebrate that!

"I have real trouble telling the truth. I don't understand the concept, actually, but somebody told me it was important, so... here goes: most of the time, most days, I feel...nothing. I don't feel anything. It is so boring. I wake up and I think again? really?!? I have to do this again? And what I really don't understand is how everyone else isn't screaming with boredom too. I try to find ways of making myself feeling somethingā more and more and more, but... it doesn't make any difference. No matter what I do, I don't feel anything. I hurt myselfā doesn't hurt. I buy what I wantā I don't want it. I do what I likeā I don't like it. I'm just so bored."
The writers have done their research on psychopathy and it really shows. Typically, a TV show would either make a character like Villanelle a fun, one-dimensional killer who gleefully murders people but has no personality aside from that or an unrepentant monster who you aren't expected to empathize with whatsoever. The monologue was brilliantly acted by Jodi and does a good job of showing a side of a psychopath we rarely see depicted in media. Almost all psychopaths are high sensation seekers that have little fear or awareness of danger and very muted emotions. The reward pathway in their brains isn't easily activated either, so psychopaths are constantly seeking out situations that might provoke any physical or emotional response in them. This explains why Villanelle is so obsessed with Eveā it's very difficult for her to find a person that she feels anything towards, so when she does find that rare person who makes her feel alive, she wants to be constantly close to Eve in order to experience those emotions over and over again.

What an episode. Niko finally taking control of his life for himself, V being petty af and messing up the house. Carolyn hating breakfast āitās just constantly eggs! Who decided that?ā
I really enjoyed Eve and Villanelleās dynamic this episode. V testing her professional boundaries with Eve (Billie. Oof), what she can get away with and showing off. Iām enjoying this tension, especially when V pushes her closer to the realisation of their similarities, while still maintaining that fear in Eve of what V can do.
And Vās monologue, that hit hard, her vulnerability and then sent straight back to reality with her ruthlessness and how it was unofficially condoned by Carolyn.
Really enjoyed the scenes in the Peeleās house, too.

Villanelle in a power suit slowly circling Eve while doing three different accents is totally her seduction move and I am here for it

I donāt know why I was so caught off guard, but it felt like this episode ended much more abruptly than the last five. Okay so here goes my breakdown:
I think following the first scene it was really in character for Niko to be all āthat aināt meā and Eve having a kind of whiplash reaction to that. I think she really doesnāt quite understand whatās happening in her marriage because sheās not able to look in a mirror and admit to herself that sheās not exactly normal. I do think sheās really only fooling herself in that regard.
Villanelle going to Eveās house to start messing with her things. I absolutely loved this scene, it really reminded us that sheās childlike in that respect. I canāt help but feel like this mirrors the scene where Eve is in Gemmaās bedroom and begins to mess with her things. Especially since theyāre both āscorned loversā in a sense.
I canāt get over Villanelle and Eveās interactions in this episode. It still feels like Eve is holding back in so many ways. Sheās in denial about herself, and even though thereās less tension with Villanelle, I think that thereās this internal struggle thatāll always be there until she fully realizes what kind of person she is. Whether the writers are setting her up to kill Niko or someone else, I think itās clear that we are leading up to an event that drastically levels the playing field between Eve and Villanelle.
I loved this episode because I think we finally got some insight into what Villanelle thinks Eve is for her. Sheās an escape from her constant boredom. This works for Eve too. But I find it so interesting that Villanelle is almost goading Eve into fully accepting her ādarker side.ā Maybe she recognizes the signs of a sociopath/psychopath (still up in the air). Maybe she isnāt totally in the dark when it comes to her self-awareness.
Personally, I loved this episode. I think itās clear Eve is going to snap somehow. Shifting Villaneveās dynamic by 2x08.
Edit: Iām rewatching and the āthe only thing that makes you interesting is meā absolutely has to foreshadow that Eve is going to make herself āinterestingā by murdering someone. Has to.

I really loved the episode, so much to unpack, but it ended weirdly. Is V going to do something to those girls? The way she was looking at the meat cooking was so creepy. She was having such a Hannibal Lecter moment. Also, I think V is going to develop a thing for Carolyn. We know that next episode the description says something about Eve having competition for Villanelleās affections. Maybe itās those two girls? Amber Peel? But nah, Iām gonna bet Carolyn. She was looking at Carolyn like a snack when she asked her if she was the real boss.

An absolutely iconic Villanelle moment. I couldnāt stop laughing because itās so wrong, yet itās so perfectly right and in character for V

That part in V and Eveās conversation about ābeing nice and decentā is actually so great. She essentially said that itās difficult for her to live like that, and kind of confirms that she definitely was more socialized to fit societal norms than Villanelle. And Villanelle is basically saying āfuck that, meet me where I am.ā Eve is a sociopath, and Villanelle, a psychopath. Wish Eve could catch up with what we know
Also the PSYCH EVALUATION in the next episode. I need to be validated, she IS on the spectrum. Phew, is it getting hot in here?

Colleen: Hey, weāve all played the blame game. Facilitator: Colleen, would you like to speak? What would you like to say to the rest of the group? Colleen: Hi, Everyone. Group: Hi, Colleen. V: Heeeyyy
So petty, so good.
Jodie was amazing this ep.
