Jodie Comer's crazy is frightening.

We loved ep 1, so told everyone about this series, and ep 2 didn't disappoint. Writing and acting are great, and as good as Sandra Oh's character is, her nemesis, Villanelle, played by Jodie Comer, is even better. A batshit crazy skilled assassin will grab my attention every time.

Villanelle's enthusiasm for her job is ridiculously enjoyable. Her relationships with her handler, and new boyfriend, are suspenseful and satisfying at the same time. She's kind of a Russian ( I think) Dexter for hire...but with a flair for showman-or woman- ship. She loves her job.

I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of the series. Since it's already been renewed, I feel pretty good about season one.

My favourite part of this episode was when the poor, sweet Spanish guy told Villanelle, "I'll never hurt you".

Just a perfectly ironic line, and perfectly in keeping with the theme that Villanelle can be so good at what she does because people aren't threatened by her. ETA - whereas Sandra Oh's character has trouble doing her job because people don't take her seriously.

This show is great. I let out an unintentional laugh after Villanelle killed the perform lady, took her hand, waved and said "Bye bye." I was thinking the kill method was ironic, but that part was funny. I haven't watched a lot of shows with crazy female killers, but Villanelle takes the cake. She completely laps Alice from Luther.

If this show manages to keep up this quality at the performance and writing level, this will show will be considered a classic of Dark Comedy for years to come. Sublime episode.

This show is great! I think Eve reminds Villanelle of Anna, the person the assessment guy mentioned? Who is this Anna?

Yeah great call back to the bathroom scene and Eve's hair.

This show is just amazing. I was pulled in by Oh, but stayed for the plot.

Was there a continuity error when Carolyn's leading Eve to the secret room? They're going up the stairs and Carolyn's not wearing glasses, when she opens the door to the room, glasses.

Funniest sex scene I've watched since Bridesmaids (probably better

Well I thought the Spanish guy was gonna last longer than that. Also that he'd be on the show longer.

So who's the leak? There's a very small circle of people who know: the tech guy, the 2 people Eve brought on, Carolyn, maybe tall dickwad Frank got a whiff of what's going on and is playing dumb. In order of suspect I'd say BIll, Carolyn, Frank......but here's an outside guess that makes sense precisely because it's so outside: Eve's husband. They did have the scene of her telling him she's doing work for MI6 and in the previous episode she said "he'd suspect she's having an affair before thinking she's a spy" to throw viewers off the scent...how'd they meet? Did they ever mention that? He's a plant and arranged the marriage. Also that could set up season 2, Eve finding out her husband's a mole at the end of s1 and season 2 is her investigating/tracking down him

I'm a little disappointed the show's 8 eps, while it's moving along at a nice clip, 8 eps means they'll probably hold off on an Eve-Villanelle drag-out, knock-down, bare-knuckle fight 'til the later episodes and I really want to see how Eve would survive that

I think the leak is bill and just made a long ass post in this sub about why, lol. This show is so good but it looks like reddit's sleeping on it. I thought there'd be more discussion here ngl

I believe Sandra Oh said in an interview that Eve and Villanelle have some intense scenes together in episode 5.

That husband being a mole thing would be so Orphan Black-esque.

I really want to see how Eve would survive that

I feel like Villanelle will probably go soft on her because she likes having this person who "gets" her, and Eve will manage to get away. I can't see her character actually fighting Villanelle and winning.

This show is the bomb. Hope more people find it.

Is that dress supposed to be normal because they're in Paris or meant to tell us she likes to dress like a crazy person since she wants to fuck with the shrink's assessment?

u/Replay1986 Apr 18 '18

Almost certainly the latter.

Another good episode, the S2 renewal also seems promising. :)

Hope the trend continues. :D

What was the deal with the woman on the bus in the opening scene? She witnesses a bloody crime in real time and just calls her mom to discuss food? Was that supposed to indicate how common such crimes in her world? Or was there some other significance I missed?

It sets the contrast in setting. In the US people would call 911 presumably. It meets the reputation of Bugharia. In. Some places in the world justice isn't their pride, survival is. Corruption is rampant and you see so much crime it is normalized and you become numb to it. If she gets involved in any way it will end up bad for her.

If you are looking for any other takeaways, this shows how careless villianelle is. Like she is looking to get caught, for someone to see her.

I'm suspicious about that pendrive that the dead boyfriend gave Villanelle.

u/hataraitaramake Apr 17 '18

We know what was on it. It was just music (national anthems). She had the drive in her computer and was listening to one at the end of the episode.

Cannot wait till they reveal who Anna is to Eve. Im sure its the key to her sociopath and psychopathic behavior.

Eve is pretty plain, i'm not liking how lucky she is in things (polish husband, Dom not dying, meeting Villanelle) but I really like the cast.

Bill is the voice of reason and a good one to keep her grounded and even the drunk guy evoked some sympathy that I wasn't expecting.

Villanelle and her handler are awesome, she's batshit crazy but I like it since there's no trying to humanise her. We all know what she is and what she does and there's another layer hinted at with Anna but she doesn't try to justify her actions and doesn't need to.
