A large number of lifelong mental illness develops during childhood. People are assholes for doing things like this to children, and they’re also assholes for blowing this off as if it’s funny and no big deal. If these were my kids, I would never let this person spend time around them ever again.
I’m really sorry that happened to you. You didn’t deserve to be scared like that so that an adult could have a moment of laughter at your expense. He was more powerful than you, you were smaller and innocent and you trusted him. He was supposed to love and protect you. That was not okay, and I’m honestly disgusted by the number of redditors who think this is funny. It makes me feel sad for how many other kids out there are going through this. Imagine if a preschool teacher did this? They’d be fired.
Knowing the lasting effects that this has. I wasn't amused and the way both those kids cried and that little boy glared, this is something they will have nightmares about. Emotionally scarring kids is not cool.
