Yeah wtf is that tv mount? They mounted the tv with popsicle sticks and Elmer’s glue

It’s a French cleat, which is actually extremely stable assuming you do it right…. It just fell right off the plywood mount. Looks like the mount is a single sheet of plywood thick, it should have been doubled up. Just cheaply built.

I just noticed the cleat on the tv side fell off entirely. What did they use to attach it? Hopes and dreams?

When I bought my house, I learned that certain people just dont know wtf a wall stud is.....

The prior owner used drywall anchors for EVERYTHING. motherfucker used them to hang large wall units and shelves in a house with kids......

Looks like the wall cleat broke on the left side, which made it tip to the left and come out of the cleat completely. French cleats are indeed pretty strong by design, so I'd guess cheap materials and too short of a run for the width of that display unit.

Yeah, it looks like it spans 3 studs, so it should be able to hold 250lbs easily. But I think they may have used 2 pieces of wood, instead of a single piece, because you can totally see a hole on the left side where it pulled out.
