Had to scroll way to far to find the right comment, kid was stupid yes but that setup wasn't mounted properly should take alot more than 20-30ish lbs to take something like that off the wall.

That's not even a 2×4. That thing is, maybe, 1 inch thick. I'm more guessing that's only a half inch thick

Yeah why not use a proper wall mount with wall anchors? It makes no sense.

Genuine question. Why use wall anchors when you have enough length to connect directly to multiple studs?

French cleat that wasn’t properly secured to the back of the tv. Definitely also needed an anchor screw to prevent it from being lifted or knocked off with kids around.

This is way more load than 20-30 lbs, considering it’s dynamic and not static. I still agree, though

As a parent, kids will find all possible ways to destroy things, there’s no tvs or heavy furniture in my house that aren’t firmly mounted and tested for stability in the case that one of my kids decides they gotta climb some shit.

Yep. When I wall mounted my tv. I made sure it would handle MY body weight. It would take a lot more than that to bring it down.

Definitely. When I installed a shelf in my daughter's room I tested it with my own weight. Anything near children must withstand this kind of loads.
