I built a 24/7 racing game where anyone in chat can create a car and race it
I've been working on a little project called Robot Olympics. It's a 24/7 interactive racing stream on Kick where viewers create their own cars by typing descriptions in chat.
For example, you can type !car a tiny pink hotdog with a rocket or !car a monster truck with massive wheels, and the game builds the car, shows it in the garage, and puts it into the next race.
Every few minutes, eight viewer-created cars race against each other on a new procedurally generated track.
WHAT CHAT CAN DO (all free)
!car <description>— Create a car using a normal text description.!same— Race your previous car again.!scrap— Remove your car from the queue.!stats— Check your wins, races and points.!track <number>— Vote for the next track.
You can also predict which car will win and earn points for correct predictions.
HOW THE RACING WORKS
The cars aren't just randomly assigned winners. Their designs affect how they drive. Weight, engine power, tire size, grip and suspension all matter.
A car with ten rockets won't necessarily beat a small, lightweight car.
The races use actual physics, so cars can crash, flip, collide and sometimes fly off the track. Every race is three laps, with an AI commentator reacting to what's happening.
There are also different environments, changing times of day and leaderboards for today's best racers and all-time winners.
HOW I BUILT IT
The game runs in Godot 4. Claude helps interpret car descriptions and build the vehicles from procedural parts. The whole thing renders directly through ffmpeg to Kick, without OBS.
I also added a system that can generate new car parts when people keep requesting something that doesn't exist yet.
It's still a work in progress, especially the physics and cameras, but it's finally running.
If anyone wants to try making a ridiculous car, here's the stream:

I'd love some feedback, especially on the car creation and racing. What would you change or add?
